VIDA URALDA BROWN It is with great sadness and deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of Vida Brown, surrounded by her family and friends, at Victoria General Hospital on July 28, 2013. Vida was predeceased by her parents Harma and Linton Thomas in Jamaica and is survived by her husband Harold, of 45 years, her sisters Sissy in Jamaica, Norma in the U.S. and Joy (Del) in Winnipeg. Vida was born in Clarendon, Jamaica and immigrated to London, England where she studied nursing, midwifery and met her husband Harold. In 1970 Vida and Harold immigrated to Canada where she worked for many years on Labour and Delivery and Family Birth Centre at the Victoria General Hospital until her retirement in 2005. Vida cared for, and delivered, many mothers and babies throughout her long career in England and in Canada. Vida was a kind, caring person with a very big heart and was loved by all her friends and colleagues. Vida supported her husband Harold for many years in his upholstery business in Winnipeg. Many thanks to Dr. Nkosi, Marlene, Una and the wonderful nurses and aides who cared for her during her short stay in hospital both in Emergency and on Unit 4. Funeral followed by interment will take place on August 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In The Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Services will be officiated by Hope Mattus.
