Date of Passing: Aug 03, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS ELEANOR BOYD (née DADSON) Phyllis Boyd passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 91 years. Loving mother of Jim (Angela) Boyd, Diane (Jim) Wood, Shirley (Don) Phillips, and Wendy (Jim Naylor) Boyd; grandmother of Kevin and Colin, Kathryn, Kimberley and Jonathan, Sean, Jennifer and Andrea, Adrian, Keir and Rhys; great-grandmother of Sam, Julia, Lucas and Lucy, Amy and Reid, Carter, Bryce, Aidan, Leah, Jacob and Tyler. She was predeceased by three brothers, three sisters and her parents. Mom was very generous with her time and property, both to her own family and four Foster Parent Plan children through the years. She spent many happy summers with the Dadson and Boyd families at Minaki, and 20 years of blissful winters at her Florida condominium in Bradenton with several dear friends there. In her last six years at Dakota House, Rosewood Retirement Community and finally in the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Health Sciences Centre, she was lovingly supported by family and care-givers. Her family is especially grateful to the friends in these residences for their service to Mom as her dementia progressed, and to the staff at RR6 of Health Sciences Centre for providing such respectful and attentive Palliative Care in her last days. We will always remember Mom's willingness to serve others, her positive nature, her love of her world, her deep spirituality and wisdom. In keeping with Phyllis' wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held today, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Phyllis can be made to Oxfam-Canada. Go with God, Mom. You are home. We love you. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. God Bless Aunty Phil. Many fond childhood memories of you and your family members at various times around 17 Bearbury in Etobicoke. The excitement and fun that Mom, Dad and Uncle Dick had getting you settled into Bradenton. That's it. A chapter closes. - Posted by: Ian Morrison (Nephew (son of Grace Morrison - Dadson)) on: Aug 06, 2013

Worked with "Philiass" as I called her @ VIA Rail. Phyll was a wonderful, warm and wise lady and I treasured our working time together and friendship. My deepest condolences to the Family. - Posted by: Bev Burns (friend & former co-worker) on: Aug 06, 2013
