Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY MARGARET WOOD September 23, 1929 - August 7, 2013 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley Wood (Gibbons), an amazing, fun loving woman, wonderful mother of four, loving grandma and great-grandma, and trusted friend, who was always willing to extend a helping hand to others. Shirley loved nursing at Children's Hospital and for 18 years treated all of the kids as her own. She had a skip in her step and left you with a smile. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, especially her loving family: son Ron Wood (Sharon), daughter Wendy Johnson (Jay), son Randy Wood, grandchildren Colin (Jill), Leigh (Wes), Julie, Jordan and Garry, great-grandchildren, Kynan, Fiona, Chase and Gavin, sister Irene Probetts (Ron), and Aunt Irene Ruse and family. Shirley was predeceased by son Garry (1980) and mother Mae Gibbons (1982). We would like to invite Family and Friends to a Celebration of her Life on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street in Transcona. Her family would especially like to thank all of the staff at Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank. Her care was exceptional and very, very appreciated! You are angels and gave her the TLC she so deserved! In lieu of flowers, we ask you to make a donation to The Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choice. Wendy, Ron, Randy and families, we are so sad to hear of your loss. Our years at the beach as kids growing up with your Irish Setters are highlighted in my mind by your mother's warm and genuine smile. She was so generous to me as a child and I loved to be included in so many things your mom did with all of you. From canning pickles and making borscht and perogies, or helping us pick the sand out of our sandwiches, your mom did it with a glowing smile and an eagerness to teach us how to do those things well.
