Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT JAMES (JIM) BARCLAY Peacefully, on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Grace Hospice in Winnipeg with family by his side our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was called home after a short illness. Dad was born February 2, 1927 in Manitou to Will and Cathy (Cartney) Barclay, eldest of two boys. He married Gladys Harde of the Opawaka District in 1950 and farmed near Darlingford in addition to working for the R.M. of Pembina. We moved to Winnipeg in 1958 when he started working for Powell Equipment as a heavy duty mechanic repairing Caterpillar equipment for the next 32 years. After retirement he enjoyed restoring and operating Caterpillars and Rumley Oil-Pull tractors at the Manitoba Agricultural Museum in Austin and served on their Board of Directors for many years. Jim was predeceased by his parents and his daughter-in-law Carol (2001). Dad is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gladys and four children, Stan (Donna), Merle (Andy), Philip (Phyllis) and Les (Diane), nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, his brother Gerald (Lorna), numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. A funeral service will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard on Wednesday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. with interment on the grounds to follow. The family would like to thank the staff of the Grace Hospice for the excellent care they provided dad in his final days.
