PAUL JOSEPH GALLANT
Date of Passing: Aug 10, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL JOSEPH GALLANT On August 10, 2013, Paul Gallant passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital at the age of 64. Originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, he moved the family to Selkirk in 1987. He loved many things (challenging himself and others with brain teaser puzzles, joking, talking and being surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren). Paul worked at CNR for 24 years. A social butterfly, he decided to take on the challenge of owning and operating his own businesses starting with Martin's Bakery, Gallant's Coffee and Bake Shop, Great Stuff Deli, Appétit Gallant, St. James Health Lunch and most recently operating a cafeteria for Manitoba Hydro. Each of these operated with pride and joy. Predeceased by his mother Ozelie, father Edouard, sister Dorice, brother Henri and granddaughter Roewyn. He will greatly be missed by his loving wife of 42 years Irene, son Stephane (Tanya), daughter Denise (Kevin), three grandchildren Devyn, Owen and Ava. He will also be remembered by his remaining siblings, seven sisters and six brothers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He always stayed true to his heart. A big thank you to the staff of the Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Martyrs Church, 289 Dussault Ave., Winnipeg with Fr. Isaie Blanchette officiating. Viewing will be held prior to, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and eulogies will be said at 9:45 a.m. Cremation will follow and a private family interment will take place. Will always remember the jokes and pranks Paul did to me as a little girl growing up with Denise and Stef in the pool. Mom and him would speak French all the time and I would be left confused but always ended in laughter. Thanks for the great childhood memories and baked goodies. RIP "uncle" Paul. - Posted by: Nancy Rowsell (Swimming family member) on: Aug 15, 2013

I had the pleasure of meeting both Paul and his wife, Irene and the misfortune of not getting to know them better. Paul was always quick with the puzzles and had fun stories of his past adventures. Paul, you will dearly be missed by those who loved you and knew the best. I wish I had the pleasure of meeting you sooner. - Posted by: dave serduk (friend) on: Aug 15, 2013

every time I saw Paul, he would always have a new puzzle for me and I would sit there for what seemed like hours to try and figure it out. He would usually show me in the end what the trick was He will definitely be missed by all that knew him - Posted by: Kevin Hughes (Sons friend) on: Aug 14, 2013

Paul & Al worked together in TRANSCONA C.N.R. We moved to Hillside Beach and Paul & Irene came to visit us during the years we were there. Then we moved to the city at Victoria Arms. A year later Paul & Irene moved in. What a surprise it was to see them here in the same building as us. We've been visiting each other since then. Good friends to have. Paul with his jokes and all. We'll miss him a lot and so is the senior club. Our deepest sympathy Irene Stephan &Denise hugs & Kisses Al & Juliette - Posted by: Al &Juliette Kozun (Friends) on: Aug 12, 2013
