KARL HEINZ PAWELLA November 17, 1926 August 15, 2013 Karl passed away peacefully after a lengthy stay at Victoria General Hospital. Born in Bottrop, Germany, our Dad was a remarkable man with many gifts and endured many life changing experiences from a young age including the Second World War. He always had many stories to share and loved to educate everyone he met. We know he touched many lives with his charming personality. He enjoyed the simple things, loving friends and family, loved and appreciated food and spirits, golfing, hunting and being in nature. Also well known for his extensive knowledge in many subjects and languages. He is survived by his loving children; Robert Michael (Cathy), Stan (Carla), Catherine, and Linda and by his grandchildren Teresa, Billy, Darren and great-grandchildren Amanda and Brooke. He will be greatly missed by all and can now be with his beloved Gertrude. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Victoria General Hospital for taking such loving care of his needs, especially during his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Victoria Hospitals Foundation to whom we are deeply grateful. www.victoriahf.ca Burial will be private at the family's request. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • We all will miss Uncle Karl. He leaves us with eternal memories of his larger than life personality, which I liked a lot. I'll never forget him playing the German card game Scot with us at the cottage, especially getting really pissed at Ron when he didn't "make it" with 4 jacks in his hand. Priceless. :) - Posted by: "Little" Bob Smith (Nephew) on: Aug 28, 2013

  • Our deepest sympathy to the Pawella family. Karl was an interesting conversationalist, drawing on his intellect and life experience. We sure covered a broad spectrum of topics during family gatherings and special occasions. Fond memories of Karl will always be with us. - Posted by: Bob DeGroot, (Also Henry, Cathy, Kirk, Tony DeGroot) (Cousins to Gertrude) on: Aug 21, 2013

  • My deepest sympathy to the family, spouses, and grandchildren. We shall miss his laugh and his ya ya ya. We all loved your Dad and Mom very much...They used to bring us the big chocolate bars when they came over for boxing Day faithfully every year. The most kindest of kind people. Yes they are all in heaven now perhaps playing baseball with my dad. Love to you all! xoxo Bonnie Panas Turenne and The Panas Family - Posted by: Bonnie Panas Turenne (Family Friend ) on: Aug 21, 2013

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. May you find strength in one another during this difficult time, take care. - Posted by: Shirley Tam (Cathy's co-worker) on: Aug 21, 2013
