ALBERT KEIN Peacefully in the early hours of August 20, Albert Kein passed away at the Emerson Health Centre at the age of 94. Albert was predeceased by his wife, Verna in November 2008 and great-granddaughter Jenna in 2007, four brothers and six sisters. He is survived by two daughters, Lynda (Dennis) Boutet, Gayle (Garry) Knutt and one son Brad all of Emerson. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Chad, Janine, Jaime, Jeremy, Reid, Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Blair, Colton, Jaya, Arianna, Alexa, Braelyn; brother Don (Lorraine); sister-in-law Carole Grier, brothers-in-law Bob Loeppky and Gerald Warkentin and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Albert was born July 29, 1919 at home in Friedensthal. He stayed on the family farm until 1941 and then served with the Royal Canadian Medical Corps until 1946. That winter he worked at the Manitoba Normal School where he met Verna Loeppky. They were married at Friedensthal in 1948 and farmed in the Friedensthal area. In 1963 they moved to the Dominion City area and farmed there until his retirement. Mom and Dad moved to Emerson and enjoyed their retirement travelling, gardening, playing cards and enjoying their grandchildren. Dad enjoyed his church, activities at the New Horizons Club, eating out and socializing with family and friends. He was a lifelong member of the Dominion City Legion. Dad was an honest, generous, and hard-working man. He faced each new challenge as a soldier, with strength and determination. He did it "his way" almost to the very end. He loved and cared so deeply for all of his family and was interested in each and everyone of our lives on a daily basis. How we will miss that unconditional love and concern. Special thanks and appreciation from the family to those who helped him maintain his independence and dignity: Home Care Attendants, Dr. Kolakowski, Dr. Fraser, Karen Shack from the Boundary Trails Palliative Care team and the nursing staff at the Emerson and Morris Hospitals. We also wish to thank Pastor Laurel for her visits and prayers. The family also thanks the many relatives and friends who visited Dad both at home and in the hospitals. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dad's memory may be made to the Emerson Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. A Celebration of Albert's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Emerson Lutheran Church on Friday, August 23 with private family inurnment prior to the service. Arrangements entrusted to Wiebe Funeral Home Altona Ltd. 204-324-5404
