She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 38 years Danny, her sons Nathan, DJ, and Perry, her daughters-in-law Jamie and Chelsea, and her grandsons Ethan and Caleb. She took great pride in whatever her boys were doing and adopted many of their friends as children of her own; you were all very special to her. In keeping with Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial mass celebrating her life will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc Street. Interment will follow at Belgian Heart Sacred Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene's name to the Children's Hospital Foundation. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. Irene 'befriended' me on facebook last year after not hearing from her for many years. I tried to answer her but never received an answer. Now I got a not that it was her birthday. Imagine my shock when I read on her page that she had passed away. I am sorry to hear about that. Hope you are all doing okay. - Posted by: Eva Robertson (friends) on: Aug 04, 2014

I am very saddened to hear of Irene's passing. Although Irene and I did not work in the same department at work she and I shared locker area space and many interesting, deep conversations at times. She was a special lady, always kind and friendly and her stories made me laugh often. She always spoke of her family and how precious they were to her. Beautiful, smart Irene...Tache School and wasn't she lucky to live right across the street...always groomed immaculately and The Smartest kid in the class, QUIET and unassuming, I always looked up to her, and actually had the nerve to go knock on her door, so we could do our homework together, or was I just curious???? I remember her Mother, dark black hair, pale complection, was she heading off to Church??? so later we would bump into each other at Safeway and it would be "Irene !!!" and we would hug each other like Two Old Bears, her brood in tow, she was so very proud of her Children, and her Husband. We would plan to meet up at "The Floodbowl" swimming pool...always looked forward to that. My Heart has a small empty spot today...I saw her picture and I said "Irene" !!!" I will never ever forget her. I am so sorry for your loss. Cecile Restiaux Childhood Friend - Posted by: Cecile Restiaux (Childhood Friend and right up until now....) on: Aug 24, 2013

I was the younger cousin and spent a lot of time with Irene during my adolescent years. She was the big sister I never had. My favorite memories were of her tolerating my childish antics and taking me to her high school for evening events and letting me hang out with her - Posted by: Donna Sumka (cousin) on: Aug 24, 2013
