THERESE LAROCHE (BERNARDIN COURCHAINE)
Date of Passing: Aug 24, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHERESE LAROCHE (BERNARDIN nee COURCHAINE) With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, Mémère, Terry Laroche, at age 84, on Saturday August 24, 2013 surrounded by the love of her family. Terry will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 37 years Ed Laroche, their children, Denise (Mike), Bob (Gerri), Rick (Karen), Janet (Craig), Yvette (Blair), Susie (Bill), Don, Doe, Alice (Lomer), Maurice (Renée), Edmée (René), Carmelle (Larry), Louise (Robert). She was a loving Mémère to 31 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her extended family and friends. She is survived by her siblings Germaine, Jeannine, Marguerite (Peter), Jacques (Simone), and Hector, her sister-in-law Terry (Orland), and many nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by her first husband (Chuck), her parents, Charles and Rosina, and siblings Hector Sr, Arthur, Louis, Victor, Gérald, Francois, Joseph, and Anne-Marie. After the loss of her first husband, Terry worked three jobs to raise and support her eight children. Even though these were difficult times, she always felt she was blessed as she was able to open her heart to the second love of her life, Ed, and his children. Terry (mom) was a devoted wife and mother who loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She was a great cheerleader for her grandchildren's endeavors, never missing anything; she had a way of making each one of them feel special. Her "Joie de Vivre" was inspirational and made you want to be around her. She could bring a smile to anyone's face and treated many to her famous homemade soup. She taught everyone around her how to live life to its fullest and to see that your glass was always overflowing if you really looked. The sparkle in her eye whenever she looked at a loved one was a window to the love that was radiating from within. She had many passions in life, travelling, making puzzles, knitting and crocheting, and she lovingly made Bomber/Rider sweaters for her children that are still dear to our hearts and the awe of many. Receiving her crochet dish clothes made you know you were special. She enjoyed Tuesday night bingo and was CEO of the "Corporation". Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Salem who provided her with exceptional care and held a special place in her heart. We would also like to express our appreciation to the amazing staff at Victoria General Hospital, Father Lalonde, Father Kevin Bettens, and Father Robbie McDougall. A mass to celebrate Terry's life will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Dr. Flowers gratefully declined, if desired, donations can be made to The Movement Centre of Manitoba, 1646 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg, MB, R2G 1N7. Aunty Terry was a beautiful person. As the passage above said, I remember her being so happy and pleasant to be around. Even though I was unable to spend time with her as an adult, the time we spent together during my childhood remain cherished memories to me. One particular Christmas in the early 70's, our family spent Christmas in Winnipeg (we were living in California at the time.) My Dad, Aunty Terry's younger brother, Vic, had received the wedding bands of his Godmother. Dad let me choose which band I wanted, the other went to my sister Mickey. Of course I chose the one that was sparkly being only 12 or 13 years old. Well, at the end of our visit, I had forgotten the band on the dresser of Yvette's (if I remember correctly) room. On our way back to California, I confessed to Dad what I had forgotten. He was pretty mad at me. When we got home, Dad called Aunty Terry and was told that I had left the ring in a safe place and that it was very responsible of me to leave it where I did. Boy, did Aunty Terry's comments get me out of hot water. She was always like that to me, ready to help us kids out if we needed it. Still have that ring to this day. Anyway, Aunty Terry was a great woman. She will always be in my prayers. Lots of love to my cousins and Uncle Ed. Jackie - Posted by: Jackie Peiffer (Niece) on: Aug 26, 2013

Denise & Jan, and all the family. So sorry to hear of your loss. Your Mom truly was a vivacious and outgoing lady, always a smile on her face. I am sorry we cannot make the service, but will be thinking of you. May your times of happier memories help you through this difficult time. - Posted by: Dan & Bonnie Siemens () on: Aug 26, 2013

We loved Terry, she was a great friend. After Chuck passed away Terry and I used to go to Vic Tanny's Health Club on Main St. Each time we went she told the girls who worked there that they would be seeing less and less of her. (as she lost weight). She came to our cottage at Grand Marais to visit and we always so enjoyed her company. She will be sadly missed by all and we are so lucky to have shared in her great sense of humor. Her smile was always big and she had a heart of gold. - Posted by: Nancy and Paul Saltel (family) on: Aug 26, 2013
