Born: Jul 04, 1934
Date of Passing: Aug 27, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES LEONARD SITARZ July 4, 1934 - August 27, 2013 With his family at his side Charles, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Florence, daughter Pamela (Ken) Wazney, sons Mark (Deanna), Robert (Dana), and Blaine (Tannis), grandchildren Nathan (fiancé Shelby Hanson), and Lucas Wazney, Kalan and Mackenzie Sitarz. He is also survived by his sisters Frances Zinnick, Kay Sych, Anne (Mike) Lucko, Mary Hammerling, brothers Tony (Pat), Joe (Beverly), as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Maria Sitarz, and brothers Casmir, Walter, John and Edward. Charles was born July 4, 1934 in Melrose, Manitoba. He attended school at Melrose West and later attended the Manitoba Institute of Technology where he studied to be a sheet metal apprentice. Charlie then began working for his late brother Edward at Royal Heating. On August 11, 1962, Charlie would marry the love of his life, Florence Obirek. Charlie and Florence started a family immediately and lived their entire lives in the Cooks Creek area. Since Charlie was talented in many trades including sheet metal and plumbing, he was able to assist all his children in building their homes and passed his vast knowledge down to them. In 1970, Charlie began working for the Canadian National Railway, first as a labourer, then as a fork lift operator, and finally was promoted to crane operator. Charlie worked at CN until his retirement in 1998. Charlie devoted his life to his family and his faith. He was always there when needed, guiding and helping in every possible way. He will forever be in our hearts and will continue to guide us from up above. Funeral service will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church (PTH 212 and Sapton Road, Cooks Creek, Manitoba), Friday, August 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing commencing at 9:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Father Joseph Tran, assisted by Father Martin Bradbury. Pallbearers for service include grandsons Nathan and Lucas Wazney, nephews Garry Zinnick, Tim Obirek, Glenn Wagner and Rodney Sitarz, with honorary pallbearers, grandchildren, Kalan and Mackenzie Sitarz. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Spine Surgery Fellowship at the Health Sciences Centre or PANSU at the Grace General Hospital. The Family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Michael Goytan and the staff of G2 Health Sciences Centre, as well as the staff of PANSU, 3 North Medicine and ICU at the Grace Hospital.
