Mom, along with her parents and family homesteaded in the Mantago area, but moved back to Lyleton to go to school. Eventually Mom's family settled in Harwill, Manitoba where mom met the love of her life, Wesley Switzer. They were married on June 26, 1940 and had 54 wonderful years together in Fisherton, Manitoba. Mom accomplished many things in her life. She was a hard working farmer's wife who raised five children. Her door was always open to family and friends who spent their summer holidays at the farm. Mom was a charter member of the Fisherton Women's Institute. A 4H Leader, a member of the Eastern Star, a teacher at Marble Ridge School and at the age of 50, she fulfilled her lifelong dream to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and took her training at the St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing. In the early 50s the family spent four years in Calgary where mom was a Post- Mistress and a Boy Scout Leader. Mom was the church organist at St. John's Anglican Church for many years. At the age of 80, Mom purchased a computer and learned to communicate with her friends and family. She also was an avid Facebook user and had many friends. My heart aches for all of the family of Beth, she was like my own grandmother and her soft voice filled with words of wisdom will resonate to all. She always had a kind word and a big smile when ever we met. I loved being her facebook friend as well. Rest in the peace Grams. - Posted by: Shirley and Albert Omer (friend) on: Sep 03, 2013

I knew Betty all my life and never heard her say an unkind word. When she worked at the doctors office somehow just knowing she was there made it easier to talk to the doctor. You can bet heaven will be much nicer now she is there. God bless you all she was a wonderful woman - Posted by: Pat & Denis Laurin (Cousins) on: Sep 03, 2013

The most inspiring lady in my life. I never heard you say an unkind word about anyone. I never heard you gossip. You had a way of making each niece or nephew feel special. The world as I know it will be a little sadder but I know that many who have gone before you were waiting with open arms and lots of love. Until we meet again...I love you and will hold many fond memories close to my heart. My thoughts and love is with my cousins. RIP Aunt Beth. - Posted by: Glenda Gard (Neice) on: Sep 03, 2013
