JEROME GEORGE ARSAN BUYDENS On Thursday, August 29, 2013 Jerome George Arsan Buydens, at the age of 65, with family by his side, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, at the Lorne Memorial Hospital of Swan Lake, MB. Jerome was born at the family farm in Treherne, December 1, 1947. After attending Pinkerton and Treherne schools he farmed in the Treherne area before moving to Winnipeg where he worked at Versatile for 20 plus years and then Wal-Mart until his retirement in 2008. He moved to Swan Lake three years ago, where he was known for his vegetable garden, participation with the friendship centre, and commitment to the church and community. For those who met him, Jerome will be remembered for his great work ethic, overwhelming generosity, and enormous laugh. He was an avid gardener, and major fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as a supportive brother, wonderful uncle, and kind friend. Jerome is survived by his brothers, Gerard (Jean) of Victoria BC, Remi of Lantzville, BC, Archie (Barbara) of Winnipeg; sisters, Germaine Sinclair of Winnipeg, Katharine (Rene) Bernard of Winnipeg; and sister-in-law Trina Barnes of Richmond, MA. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, Andrew, Sarah (Corey), Lois, Darrin (Mandi), Susan (Brad), Kevin (Tanya), Dana (Jodine), Keith (Jessica), Lauren (Al), Randy, Gary, Michael, Christina, Brent (Alareen); several great-nieces and nephews, and his godmother Anna Van Den Busssche. He was predeceased by his mother Clarisse (2009); his father Gaston (2009); brothers Ernest (1968) and Lucien (1972); sister Doreen (1994) and great-niece Renee (1987). Thank you to the staff at Lorne Memorial Hospital and dialysis staff in Winnipeg for the care they provided. The family would like to extend special thanks to Albert and Annette DeBacker, Janice Temmerman, The Swan Lake Lions Club, Ursalin Van Den Bussche and all who provided assistance to Jerome. Prayers will be said at Adam's Funeral Home on Friday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held in the St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Swan Lake, MB on Friday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow the lunch at the Treherne Catholic Cemetery. • We had known Jerome over the years as our "egg man'. He would always think of us if he was coming into the city to see if we needed eggs. He always had a story to share about something or another followed by his laughter. He was such a nice guy, so upbeat and full of life. We are very sorry to hear of his passing and our deepest condolences go out to his family. - Posted by: David and Michelle Eastman (friends) on: Sep 04, 2013
