ROSIE TROSCHUK (nee KOWALSKI) With family by her side, in the morning of September 13, 2013, our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the Gimli Hospital, at the age of 93. Rosie is survived by her sons Stanley (Susan) and Lester (Linda), grandchildren Mark (Toni), Michael (Barbie), Dawn (Ronnel), Crystal (Colin), Leslie (Jon), Lindsey (Kris), great-grandchildren, Stefan, Zoe, Madeline, Liam, Ella, Deserae, Ethan, Cole, Michelle, Wyatt and Madison, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Mike Andrew Troschuk (1991), her parents Anna (nee Misiur) and Michael Kowalski, brothers and sisters Katherine Kowalski (John Eskra), Joseph Kowalski (Mary Lazorko), Stanley Kowalski (Annie Koscielny), Nellie Kowalski (Michael Ray Caron), Nick Kowalski (Frances Lazorko), Andrew Kowalski (Sally Clark), Walter Kowalski (Germaine Michaud), stepbrothers and stepsister Mike Jewar, John Jewar, Frank Jewar, and Mary Jewar. Rosie (Kowalski) Troschuk was born January 12, 1920 on her family's farm in Wishart, Saskatchewan. She was one of a very large family. She worked hard on the farm and decided to go work in the mines of Flin Flon where she met her soulmate Mike Troschuk. They were married and moved to Poplarfield where they bought a farm from the Werbeniuk family. Rosie was known for her knitting of slippers and love of baking where she would teach her grandchildren her famous recipes for ginger cookies, cornflake coconut cookies, perogies and cabbage rolls. She loved to pick saskatoons, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and various mushrooms and loved harvesting her gardens. She had a green thumb for plants, and her flowers grew miraculously around the house especially her roses. Rosie loved the outdoors and never complained about a day's work. She loved to laugh and loved playing cards. She loved visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved to hear laughter in the house. The family wishes to send our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. R. C. Patel, nursing and support staff at the Gimli Johnson Memorial Hospital for all their compassion and loving care. We would also like to express our appreciation to the doctors and nurses of Concordia Hospital, who also cared for mom. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that flowers be sent to a local nursing home of your choice. A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, September 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fisher Funeral Home in Fisher Branch, MB. Pastor James Theissen will be officiating and burial will be in the Poplarfield Cemetery. FISHER FUNERAL HOME INC. In care of arrangements. Fisher Branch, MB 204-372-6271 or 204-372-6803
