Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTATIANA SYDOR (nee KOWALSKA) February 8, 1924 - September 11, 2013 God now has our mother in the palm of his loving hands. It is with deep sadness and overwhelming sorrow we announce the passing of our precious mother Tatiana. Tatiana was predeceased by her husband Roman, parents Michael and Maria Kowalska, sisters Rosalia and Kateryna. Our mother will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Borden (Sophie), Paul (Lynne); daughters, Rose (Bill), Donna (Oscar); grandchildren, Sandy (Cory), Nadine, William, Dylan, Mallory, Joseph, Justin, and great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Jessica. Tatiana was born on February 8, 1924 in selo Spas Novei Sambir, Ukraine. In 1942 at the age of 17 she was taken from her family to Germany into forced labour. Upon liberation in May 1945, she met the love of her life Roman in a refugee camp in Germany where they were married. In 1947 they moved to Belgium where their first son Borden was born. On December 4, 1951 they immigrated to Canada and settled in Lac St. Jean, Quebec where their second son Paul was born. They eventually relocated to Winnipeg where their daughters Rose and Donna were born. This is where they carved out their new lives. She was a devoted Ukrainian Catholic and dedicated member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. She was very proud of her Ukrainian Catholic faith and her Ukrainian heritage and immersed her children in Ukrainian Catholic school, Ukrainian Youth Organization, choir and dance. Tatiana was a very active member and held several positions within the Ukrainian Catholic community which included the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Canada and was also president of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League for thirteen years. Mom was the happiest when her whole family gathered together no matter what the occasion. Mom did not have a green thumb, she had a "green hand". This could be observed by the bountiful flowers and garden at her home nurtured by her. This was her true passion. Mom and dad enjoyed their cottage immensely and this was their little piece of heaven. They spent most of their retirement out at the lake surrounded by nature. Well mom... now you and dad can "toil in the soil" together again, planting your garden in heaven. And when it rains we will know that your beautiful gardens are flourishing. Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Terry Babick and the wonderful staff at Holy Family for keeping our mom safe and comfortable. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 16 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 17 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Dear mom, we said a prayer for you to thank the Lord above, For blessing us with a lifetime of your tender hearted love. We thanked God for the caring you've shown us through the years, For the closeness we've enjoyed in time of laughter and of tears. And so, we thank you from the heart for all you've done for us, And we bless the Lord for giving us the best mother there could be. VICHNAYA PAMYAT Rest in Peace. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193

My deepest sympathy Rose, Borland and family on the passing of your sweet, sweet mother. Even though Tatiana's time with us was short, she had a very special place in my heart, and will be truly missed. I am sad for all of you that she left behind, but happy for her that her suffering is over. You were truly a loving family and she was very lucky to have such supportive children. I will miss you all. Sincerely, Mary Lou - Posted by: Mary Lou Chubaty (Nurse) on: Sep 14, 2013
