MOHINDER SINGH BAINS 1925 - 2013 It is with great sadness and sorrow the family wishes to announce, that squadron leader Mohinder Bains passed away peacefully on September 21 surrounded by his family. He was born in village Kishanpura, dist Ropar, Punjab, India. After attending Khalsa College Amritsar he joined the Indian Air Force from where he retired as a squadron leader in 1978. He was a member of the Khalsa College Kabaddi team and was a member of India's National volleyball team. In 1979 he moved to Canada to join his son and daughter. He worked with the core of commissionaires. He was very strong physically and mentally. Always wanting to give and help those in need. He never missed his morning walks, even in -35 degree C temperatures. Mohinder Bains (late Baldev Kaur) leave behind to cherish their memories, his son Gurdeesh Bains (Charnjit), daughters (late Kamaljit) (Baldev Turka), Gurdeep (Harpal Gill), Permeet (Gurdip Uppal) and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by Kamaljit Turka and Rawinder Bains. The family is blessed to have had so many good years with him; he had a full life and will be missed very much. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital, and very "Special Thanks" to the doctors and nurses and care staff of the Palliative care of the Riverview Heath Centre for treating him with such kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160 - 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg MB R3T 5Y4, followed by Bhog of Akhand Path and meal at Singh Sabha Gurdwara, 4000 Sturgeon Road, Winnipeg, MB.
