BRITTNEY CHEGUS September 20, 1990 September 21, 2013 On Saturday, September 21, 2013 my daughter and our sister Brittney and her mother Jeanne died tragically in a car accident to be with the Lord. Brittney was born on September 20, 1990 in Winnipeg to her parents Jeanne Haug and Steve Chegus. Brittney attended school in Winnipeg and also worked at numerous places in Winnipeg before her passing. Brittney was a very loving and caring person. She was very dedicated to children and family oriented. She had a very unique voice. She was an outdoors person. She enjoyed fishing and camping, she loved walking in Windsor Park, exercising, eating and reminiscing about the past with her cousins Jasmine and Amy whom she considered her sisters and best friends. Quotation from Jasmine and Amy "She wouldn't be the person she is today if it wasn't for her past. She told us she experienced a lot of things in her life that people her age normally don't. She said her trip to the Cayman Islands in April 2012 was the best trip and time in her life. She liked to go out and have a good time by being the life of the party, by making people laugh and feel better if they were down. She was a very positive influence on everyone that she was around." With her brother Brayden, she enjoyed guarding, driving around, bike riding, walking and confiding in him with her secrets that nobody else knew. With her special niece Shanayla "Poopoo", she loved to take pictures and cuddle with her in her bed and loved to spoil her by carrying her around in her arms. With her dad, her favourite saying was "yak she myish", how are you. She enjoyed life at Elm Creek, her dad's place by having camp fires and her last request a few weeks ago was if she could be there alone and have a camp fire and enjoy the lights. She loved the country. Her number one dream was to get her class 1 driver's license in October to be a truck driver and travel the world. Left to mourn her passing are her father Steve Chegus (stepmom Patricia), her brother Brayden Haug (Shelley) her niece Shanayla and Billie-Dawn, her stepbrothers Clifford, Cody, Russell, her sisters Amanda Finnlayson, Pam Greenwood and stepsister Amanda, Grandpa Vern Haug, Grandma Diane and George Tkachyk, her aunt Jocelyn and uncle Daryl and their families. On her father's side numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and many friends. She was adored by all of them and will be truly missed by all. Life will never be the same without her. Prayers will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and the Funeral Service on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium, 1800 Day Street. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery 5014 Dugald Rd. Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street

  • I met Brittany at 2 am mid january this year ...i was driving my 18 wheeler dump truck hauling snow all night when i came around a corner on mcphillips near the north perimeter when i see her waving me to stop & help her... i pulled over right away to see she had a flat tire & her spare tire was flat as well.... so i pulled the spare out of the trunk ...told Britt to get in and warm up and she came with me for a round of snow hauling and to put some air in the low spare tire... Brittany loved riding in a big truck ...she told me she wants to get her class 1 license & drive for a living ...i got her tire back on her car for her and told her to call me one day so i can teach you how to drive a 18 speed transmission and she gave me a huge hug and said thank you sweetheart for saving my life out here in the cold ... we became great friends & now its sooo sad to say goodbye ...rest in peace hun & my deepest sympathy to every person that knew her & her mom. - Posted by: Jerry M (friend) on: Sep 28, 2013

  • I have know Brittney since she was two years old. I can remember her dancing "all that I want" from Ace of Base it was the cutest thing I ever did see. She grew up to be a beautiful young lady who loved kids. She a wonderful big sister to Amanda her youngest sibling. It so sad to lose her. My thoughts to her uncle Daryl, grandpa Vern and grandma Diane and brother Brayden and more. - Posted by: Charlene Normand (Friend) on: Sep 26, 2013

  • This honestly breaks my heart. It's almost surreal for me. I've always considered myself a friend of Brittney's even though it's been years since we've really hung out with "The Girls". I am very lucky that I did recently see her earlier this year and she was exactly how I remembered. Her smile & laugh is something I don't think I'll ever forget! You will be seriously missed my dear <3 - Posted by: Sam Stregger (Friend) on: Sep 26, 2013

  • There are so many memories I hold dear, so many stories replaying like movies in my head. Life just won't be the same without your beautiful smiling face around. I feel I speak on behalf of all of 'the girls' when I say we will miss you every day. It's just such a tragedy that you are gone, it doesn't seem real. I keep wishing that you’re going to show up and say this was all some kind of hoax. May you rest in peace my princess. My thoughts are with your family we will all miss you so much. I love you B, always. - Posted by: Cassandra (Close Friend) on: Sep 25, 2013
