ROBERT (BOB) WAYNE CLARKE
Born: Jul 08, 1946
Date of Passing: Sep 23, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) WAYNE CLARKE 1946 - 2013 Suddenly and so unexpectedly, Bob passed away peacefully on September 23, at the Selkirk and District Hospital at the age of 67, surrounded by his loving family. Bob will be sadly missed by his loving wife Paula of 40 years, and daughters Whitney Berry (Justin), Regan Myers (Andrew) and Erin Clarke (Andy Mead), and cherished grandchildren Nora, Ellen and Jack Berry, and Claire and Kate Myers. Bob will also be missed by sisters-in-law Shirley (John) Van der Tol and Bev (Brian) Horst, the Kavanagh family, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was born on July 8, 1946 in St. Catharines, Ontario and moved to Winnipeg in 1959. He grew up in the North End where he attended St. John's High School. Bob and Paula were married on August 4, 1973 and moved to Oakbank in 1976, where he and Paula raised their family. Bob began working in the mailroom at the Canadian Grain Commission in 1966 and retired in 1998 from his position as Registrar. After his early retirement, Bob began volunteering at the high school in Oakbank as the parking lot patrol and was affectionately known by many students as Bob the Narc'. He continued to work at the schools in Oakbank as an educational assistant for the next five years. Bob really enjoyed working with the children, and staff also appreciated his managerial' skills. After his second retirement, he turned his focus to his home, especially the pool and flowerbeds. He was also the on-call babysitter for Nora, Ellen and Jack and would drop everything to go to Grand Forks to help out. Once Claire was born, Gigi daycare opened. Bob had a big heart and was always willing to help out. He was a member of the Charleswood Optimist Club, and a Charter member of the Oakbank-Springfield Kinsmen Club, helping with many projects and events such as the Winnipeg Folk Festival. Bob was an advocate of the Arts. He started the Springfield Band Parents Association, which continues today. Bob also volunteered at Kin Place Personal Care Home where he compiled the monthly newsletter and made the events calendar for the past five years. He played a major part in creating the recipe book that will be published later this year. Family was everything to Dad. He would do absolutely anything for his girls and tell everybody about them. Dad continued to take care of us even long after we could take care of ourselves. Dad's favourite time was when we were all together. Whether it was getting together for birthdays and holidays, or just hanging out in the summer swimming in the pool. As long as we were all together, Dad was happy. When Dad became Gigi in 2003, it was one of the proudest moments of his life. Gigi loved all of his grandchildren so much. He snuggled and sang to them when they were babies, taught them tricks when they were toddlers and was always very involved in their lives as they grew. He was so proud of their activities and accomplishments and told everyone about them. He was always very quick to share photos and stories to whomever he would meet, whether he knew them or not. Thanks Dad for teaching us the importance of family. We appreciate everything that you have done for us. We love you so much and will miss you dearly. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses, especially Ramona, Helena, Patty and Paul, at Selkirk and District Hospital for their compassionate care of Dad. A Celebration of Dad's Life will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Bob's memory to the Selkirk and District Hospital Palliative Care Program or Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank. www.seasonsfunerals.ca

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. He was always so welcoming and genuinely happy to see the "whole gang". It was wonderful to reconnect at our class reunion last year. As usual, Mr. C went above and beyond to help to make that happen. He was so very proud of his girls....as he should be! My most sincere condolences. - Posted by: Shawn Osiowy (Classmate of Whitney's) on: Oct 02, 2013

Our sincere sympathies to the whole Clarke Family. Spent many summers in their back yard as our three boys took swimming lessons with Whitney and Erin who were amazing swimming teachers and friends. Bob & Paula always made me feel welcome and comfortable during my full morning waits. Enjoyed chaperoning band trips with Bob. Great memories and now heavy hearts. Rest in peace Bob!! - Posted by: Pearce Family (Community Friend) on: Sep 27, 2013

Bob was bigger than life. He loved to laugh and you couldn't help but join in when he did. His love for his family and friends showed in his generous spirit of giving. He and Paula hosted such great dinners and dropping in was always welcome. KOA Clarke's will never be the same without you Uncle Bob. I won't say goodbye, as you will always be in our thoughts and heart. Until we meet again. - Posted by: Linda and Robert Payne (Friends of the family) on: Sep 26, 2013
