Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • I met Tye when I joined DU, one year after he did. Although it's been many years since then, he is one I remember most fondly when thinking back to those green years of my first job out of school. He had just designed the iconic DU logo, still used today. Every time I wear my official gold DU duck pin, or see that gracefully stylized design, I think of Tye, always glad to have known him and for the lasting impression he made on me. - Posted by: Darren Clarke (Colleague) on: Aug 07, 2018

  • My sincerest condolences. He was a wonderful person and will be missed. - Posted by: Debbie Menard (co-worker) on: Oct 09, 2013

  • As I was growing up you were the big brother I never had. You taught me to appreciate music and influenced and encouraged me to learn to play the guitar. You taught me how to look through a camera lens and see the world through different eyes. Thank you Tye for those and many other gifts. I'm betting that heaven is a beautiful place and you are busy taking it all in, camera and canvas in hand. You will be missed by everyone you touched through out your life. Good bye dear cousin. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Bill Walker (Cousin) on: Oct 07, 2013

  • My heartfelt condolences to Tye Gregg's family.I knew Tye for over three decades and highly regarded him for his many talents he held along with his wonderful personality. I will miss him but will forever think of him when I'm in the field pointing my camera lens at wetland marsh. - Posted by: Brian Wolitski (Business Associate / Friend / Brian Wolitski Photographer) on: Oct 06, 2013

  • Tye was not quite a year older than myself. I remember the family gatherings out at Grandma Walker's place. I remember all the art work that was around the house. When we came to visit there was always something new to see that Tye had done. We were/are the oldest of this generation with my brother Tim as the oldest. My sympathies go out to Edie and the two young men and their families. My sincere sympathies go out the Auntie Winnie, Penny and Kathy as well as their families. Rest in Peace cousin, you are in good company. Enjoy your rest and watch us down here on Earth as we muddle through life. I'm sure that we will give you something to laugh about. - Posted by: Teri Walker (cousin) on: Oct 05, 2013

  • My deepest condolences to Edie and family. While I'm very saddened that Tye is no longer with us, I also feel comfort that he's no longer inflicted from the pain of his brief illness. Tye's creativity and direction helped shape what I do today in my career. His wit and kindness should be considered gold standard in how people should treat their employees. I was privileged to be under the tutelage of Tye. For his expertise in design and photography continues to guide me to this day. While he may be gone, his work lives on through print, and especially through his lens. Countless wildlife photos of his, published. Lifting the spirits of many who see them. - Posted by: Jason Boychuk (Colleague) on: Oct 04, 2013

  • My deepest condolences to Edie and the family. Tye was truly a wonderful man. He was a great designer, talented photographer, good friend but mostly he was a tremendous mentor. He was generous with his time and taught me many things about design and photography. It never ceased to amaze me how much knowledge he had. He was a great listener and excellent coach. I will miss all that wisdom. After his retirement I felt fortunate that we kept in contact. Meeting over coffee to share stories about the lake, family, work and of course, photography. His passion of the outdoors came through in the stunning photographs he took. And the stories he told about countless hours waist deep in the marsh to capture that prefect photo. He will truly be missed. Sincerely Lindsay - Posted by: Lindsay Pikta-Marie (colleague) on: Oct 03, 2013

  • My most heartfelt condolences. Tye was an inspiration, mentor, the go-to, taught-me-everything-I-know type that has me wondering what I'd have amounted to had we never crossed paths. I will miss him, and miss knowing he's around. Such patience, kindness and humour. I will always remember that, and him, with deepest fondness. Thank you, Tye. Cheers. - Posted by: Jeope Wolfe (colleague) on: Oct 02, 2013

  • My deepest condolences, in working with Tye I always remember Tye as a cheerful and helpful part of the communications department. He will be missed by a great many people. - Posted by: Chris Benson (colleague) on: Sep 30, 2013

  • My deepest condolences on the loss of a very special, witty and talented man. Tye was a creative and patient soul with an eye for beauty in nature that he captured in his art and photography - gifts we will treasure always. Tye, I will miss you. - Posted by: Leigh Patterson (colleague) on: Sep 30, 2013

  • Auntie Eadie, Jeff and Jon - Our condolences. We loved Tye very much and we are so happy he was part of our family. All of us enjoyed his good nature, generous spirit, and quick wit. We are forever grateful for his positive influence on all of us. The hours of joy he gave us by capturing the perfect shot of Fleuri leaping into the lake (while almost falling out of his canoe) are memories we treasure. We look forward to celebrating his life when we meet next. - Posted by: Matthew, Katie, Isabael, Ella and Fleuri (Family) on: Sep 28, 2013

  • Eadie – Our condolences. Working with Tye for so many years, I can easily reflect on some of the many antics Tye, Scott and myself shared. He made me laugh many times! As Tye was such a gifted artist, photographer and designer, I am so grateful for his mentoring my “creative side”. He taught me so much! (as I type this - I wonder how the lay-out will appear in print) As a person, Tye was always willing to listen, share and show compassion. I know he will be missed by many. Sincerely, Sandi & Richard - Posted by: Sandra Hall (friend and co-worker) on: Sep 28, 2013
