He leaves to mourn his passing his common law wife Evelyn, his sons Johannes, Richard and Paul (Lisa), his seven grandchildren Tyler, Duncan, Nickole, Triston, Lacey, Jordan, Jamie and one great-grandson Carter, as well as his stepchildren Sharon and David (Heather), his step-grandchildren Ryan, Brandi, Chantal, and Sara. The family would like to thank Shelly and John for their efforts. No formal Service will take place. To Johannes, Richard & Paul, I would like to send my dearest condolences to your family. Gerrit was a father to me, and a grandpa to my children Sheena & Nicholas. Even though my mom and Gerrit's relationship didn't work out. He was always in our hearts. My children only knew Gerrit as grandpa, nobody else has taken that spot in their lives.
