GARY JOHN PORTER October 1, 1951 September 28, 2013 On September 28, 2013 it was hard enough to hear and handle yet it's soft enough to understand the passing of Gary. Its more than the time on the clock when we heard, but it's that moment that will be honoured and remembered forever. Gary is predeceased by his late father Gordon. Gary will be deeply missed by his mother Bernice, brother William (Cheryl) niece Bryn, nephew Branden, Tinkerbell "the rat" and numerous friends. Gary was employed with CN for 38 years which he fondly spoke of. A celebration of Gary's life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street.   • I too worked with Gary. He was so funny and we had a blast in the early years when we first started at CN. We sort of lost touch with each other over the years, but we came to know each other a few years before he retired. It was then that I came to realize that the Gary Porter who I knew as a kind and caring person in the '70's was exactly the same person who I knew just before his retirement.   • My deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers to the Porter family on Gary's passing. Gary was the best man at my wedding to Bruce Kolopenuk back in 1983, and while we lost touch over the years, I often wondered how 'Ports' was doing. Gary was a sweetheart - there's no other way to put it, and I will always have fond memories of him (when Bruce and I were dating, Gary was usually with us - we had such a blast together!). Those were the good old days.
