ADRIENNE YVONNE CANERS (nee CONAN) October 5, 1920 - September 30, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on September 30, 2013, five days short of 93 years. She passed away peacefully at River Park Gardens with family at her side. Adrienne leaves to mourn her children Angie, Evelyn (Peter), Henry (Eveline), George (Marilyn), Marie (Paul), Leo (Norma), Jeanette (Don), Dennis (Debra), Allan (Denise), Susan (Gus), Alice (Kevin), Anita (Paul), Rene and Theo (Marie), 41 grandchildren, one stepgrandson and 22 great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Louis, many nieces, nephews and friends. Adrienne was predeceased by her husband Ted of 53 years, her sisters Georgette and Angelique (and their husbands Eugene Bernier and Ernest Bale) and her sister-in-law Marie Conan. She was also predeceased by infant daughter Claudette, her daughter Margaret and her infant great-grandson Joseph. Adrienne, the third of four children of Louis and Angelique Conan, was born on October 5, 1920 in Fisher Branch. In 1941 she married Ted Caners. Together they farmed and raised their family of 16 children. They formed a true partnership of love in both their marriage and farm business. Their support for each other provided the strength needed to raise a large family. Mom's great organizational skills and unwavering work ethic were put to good use as the demands of farm work, making a big garden, preserving, and caring for so many was all part of a day's work. Mom's life centered around her family which also was also her greatest joy. She provided nourishing meals for her children, her grandchildren and for anyone who dropped by. She enjoyed and welcomed visitors. Mom loved to talk and to joke. She had unfailing good humour and was cohort to many pranks. She was also a very compassionate and giving person, always ready to lend a hand or an ear. Sundays provided a slower pace...visiting with family and friends, card games and later on, Sunday evening bingos. She also treasured her walks to Aunty Mary's or touring the farm crops with Dad. The family would like to thank the staff of River Park Gardens for their exceptional care of Mom and their support for the family during her final hours. During her three years at the home, Mom felt secure and loved and continued to enjoy life with dignity. The funeral mass will be held at the Roman Catholic Immaculate Conception Church in Fisher Branch at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Fisher Funeral Home Inc. in care of arrangements. Fisher Branch, MB 204-372-6271 or 204-372-6803

  • "Aunty Adrienne" is someone we will remember forever. Raising a large family on the farm left little spare time yet she always made us feel welcome, never complained, never seemed down-hearted. We will be forever grateful to the care and concern she showed our own mother whose life had become so difficult. To her children, their spouses and all the grandchildren, my deep and most sincere sympathy. Eva Krawchuk - Posted by: Eva Krawchuk (Niece) on: Oct 02, 2013
