AMY (GWEN) BROOKS Gwen peacefully passed away on September 25, 2013 at West Park Manor at the age of 91. She was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and lived in Winnipeg since 1968. Gwen was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon, special friend Ernie Bremner, her parents, three sisters and one brother. Mom will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her son Terry (Sue) of Burlington, ON, daughter Marilyn (Gordon) Lund of Winnipeg, son Clinton (Janice) of Calgary, Alberta, daughter Nancy (Henry) Klippenstein of Calgary, Alberta, her baby brother Ronald Degaust (Joyce Fielding) of Calgary, AB, her very special grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Tibbs, Amy Tibbs (fiancé Cameron Young) of Winnipeg, Paul (Heather) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Pamela (Jacques) Baribeault and great-granddaughters Joscelyn and Melanie of Calgary, AB, four stepgrandchildren, many nieces and nephews in British Columbia and many close friends especially Jim Bowler. She was an excellent homemaker and also volunteered at Misericordia Hospital, and at St. Andrew's Church working in the rummage room, with the A.C.W. and was secretary and president of the Over 60s Club. At the age of 59 years mom re-entered the work force part time at Eaton's warehouse until retiring at 65. Family was her priority and she loved to travel with them whenever possible. Gwen will always be remembered for her big smile, wonderful sense of humour, positive attitude, open heart and selflessness even when life got difficult. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 7 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue, with Rev. Jonathon Blanchard and Pastor Diana Wilde officiating. According to mom's wishes some of her ashes will be interred in the St. Andrew's Prayer Garden. A family graveside service at Chapel Lawn will take place on Monday, October 21, 2013 Special thanks to the wonderful staff at West Park Manor for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Gwen to Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts, 2300 Ness Avenue, R3J 1A2; West Park Manor, 3199 Grant Avenue, R3R 1X2 or Street, Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. R3J 0R1.
