ROBERT FREDERICK ROSS 1954 - 2013 Robert passed away on October 3, 2013 peacefully with family by his side. He lost his battle with cancer but he was able to surprise us all by hanging on for another six and a half weeks after being admitted to Riverview Palliative Care Hospice in Winnipeg. The "power of love" from family, his strong will to live and God's grace, love and faith all carried him through to the end. Robert was predeceased by his mother Bertha, father Simon, two brothers, Jacob and Walter. He is also predeceased by his aunt Andrena, and cousin Rene. Robert is survived by his son Bobby and daughter Brenda, eight grandchildren, aunts Harriet and Evaline, sisters Rose and Sarah (Bo), brother Perry, special cousins and friends Mike (Darlene), Ernest (Erica), Darlene, Emily (George), Marlene, Wayne (Brenda), Claudette, Tammy, Clovis, Colleen, Pauline and lots of special nieces and nephews in Winnipeg and Berens River. Robert was born in Berens River, Manitoba but spent the last years of his life in Winnipeg. Robert was always a quiet, private man, always ready to help. We will remember his sense of humor, his humble demeanor and generous spirit. We would like to acknowledge and thank the main street project, his worker Tracy and the Siloam Mission where Robert spent some of his time. Thank you to the nurses and staff on 3E at Riverview for your wonderful care of our loved one. Viewing will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service to follow on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Deliverance Centre Church, 1831 Selkirk Ave., with Pastor Ray Cornish officiating. I remember Robert when he first came to mainstay in crutches, didn't want to stay at the Salvation Army. He spoke of working with asbestos & construction, working with my father, Berens River, his sisters, family. He was glad to find he had relatives living at mainstay and friends. We often would have morning conversations over coffee & a smoke outside and joke with his friends/roommates. He was selective of who he trusted as we spoke of his life experiences growing up, he spoke of a sister who would help with this and of his son. He was a friend and no matter how much time passed, if I met him at my mom's visiting my dad or on the street, I always made time for him. He was a good person & I'll never forget him for who he was, a good man and a friend. - Posted by: Rita (Friend) on: Aug 08, 2014
