To mourn her memory are her much loved children Doug (Debbie), Tanis (Sandy), Roger (Christine), Kim (Brenda), Michele, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Born in Gonor January 22, 1933, married her sweetheart Werner on November 1, 1952 and made Selkirk their home to raise their family. She was predeceased by Werner on May 4, 2007 and missed him every day. Now they will be reunited together with God. Mom was very proud of her business accomplishments owning and operating Rose Marie Catering from 1960 to 2005 with Werner. Together they made a great team and took pride in every meal they served. The endless hours of work and organizational expertise that developed will always be cherished and admired. No job was too big and a challenge was always waiting to be accomplished. Mom was an outstanding cook and her recipes always had a "secret ingredient". This was her special touch and caring way and will be missed every day. Mom loved her family get-togethers, the special holidays and vacations with friends and family. She loved to go camping, fishing and holidaying. Every event had a special story and these memories will live on in our hearts. Mom also leaves to mourn her sister Rose Ludwick, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lena was predeceased by her parents Mary and Mike Lazaruk, sisters Anne Rapko, brothers Alex Lazaruk, John Kupchik, Peter Kupchik, Mike Kupchik and Frank Kupchik. Viewing at the church one hour prior to the service. Cremation to follow. Special thanks to CancerCare, Dr. Greg Pinnegar, Pastor Stan Richards, Carol Aitkenhead and Rose Ludwick. Many thanks to the friends and relatives that have called and visited mom, she cherished these times and appreciated every one of them. Donations in Lena's memory may be made to the Selkirk Evangelical Church, 329 Clandeboye Avenue, Selkirk, Manitoba R1A 0X4. Mother You can only have one mother, Loving, kind and true, No other friend in all the world Will be so true to you. For all her love and kindness She asked nothing in return. If all the world deserted us To our Mother we could turn. For those of you who have a mother Treasure her with care, For you will never know her value Till you see that she's not there. To hear her voice To see her smile To sit and talk with her awhile To be together in the same old way Would be our dearest wish today. I too remember Lena and uncle Werner at Rose Marie catering. My little sis and I would stop by to visit my Granny - Pat Meger (also now deceased) and we'd always get a sample of the deliciousness that came from that kitchen. I even helped do some catering for them when I got older. I will always remember them and their daughter (cousin)Michele. With a heavy heart, I send the family my sincerest condolences. - Posted by: Patricia Kollidas nee Settee (distant family ) on: Oct 23, 2013

I remember when I occasionally stopped into the kitchen for a short visit to see my Mom Sophie who worked at Rose Marie for many years. No matter how busy they were Werner always had a joke for me and Lena always took a moment to chat. She shall be missed. I am truly sorry for your loss. Remember grief is a price we pay for love.
