He was born May 24, 1933 in Sao Miguel Portugal and passed away on October 7, 2013 at Calvary Place Personal Care Home. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle. He loved spending his time with his family and enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards and watching hockey, and most of all he loved watching his favourite soccer team Benfica. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years Maria Luisa; sons Joe (Mary), Carlos (Cari), Luis (Lucy), Robert (Emma) and one daughter Grace (Mike); grandchildren, Christopher (Mel), Tina (Steve), Lindsey (Dan), Brittany (Dave), Matthew, Jennifer (Jordan), Jordan, Kaitlyn, Nicole, Allison and Samantha; sisters Maria Do Carmo, Lurdes, Fernanda and numerous, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Calvary Place Personal Care Home for the wonderful care they provided Manuel. If friends so desire in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Calvary Place Personal Care Home, 1325 Erin St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 3R6 Prayers will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St., Winnipeg, MB, Rev. Father Andre Lico celebrant. Entombment in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. A reception for family and friends will be held at Mosaic Reception Centre, 1839 Inkster Blvd., following the interment.
