ROBERT BERRY It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandpa and cherished brother. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Janet, sons Michael (Keith), Robert Jr (Jennifer), daughters Marlene (Tony Glover), and Jane (Warren Kay). Stepsons Barry, Perry (Kathy), and Dan (Michaela) Chetyrbok. Grandchildren Sean, Stephanie and Ryan Glover, Brendan and Camryn Berry, Matthew Kay, Ryan, Kyla (Ryan), Matthew, Brittany, Haley and Maddie Chetyrbok and Logan Asham. Siblings Barrington, Joyce Fitzpatrick, Ruby (Kris) Kaasgaard, Louise Croft. Inlaws Shirley Hall, Corney and Thelma Penner, Vern McNaughton, Doreen Maryka, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Bob was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Fanny Berry, first wife Roberta, Roberta's parents Russell and Myrtle Sholdice, brother Albert and wife Eileen, sister Leone and husband Bill Lane, brothers-in-law Stu Fitzpatrick, Fred Hall, Al Croft and Leon Maryka, sisters-in-law Theda McNaughton and Vivian Sholdice. Bob was born February 15, 1932, one of seven children born to Lawrence and Fanny Berry of Cromer, MB. He was schooled in Cromer and Woodnorth. Upon leaving school, "the tractor was waiting for him". He continued farming for over 50 years. During that time, he met and fell in love with Roberta Sholdice of Dauphin. They married in 1957 and together they raised four children. During these years Bob played and coached hockey, curled, played baseball and was very active in his community and church, serving on various boards and committees. In his "spare time", he could be found at the rink flooding the ice, or driving a car load of kids to a hockey game. Roberta passed away in 1991 and as often in life, when one door closes, another opens. Bob was fortunate enough to find love again when he met Janet Chetyrbok of Winnipeg. They married in 1997 and began a new chapter in his life. Although he made an easy transition to city life, his heart remained in Cromer and the farming community. Bob was a loving man whose generosity extended beyond his own family. Although foremost a farmer, he had a wide range of interests from curling and golf, to theatre, dominos, jigsaw puzzles. He also had a keen interest in politics, history and pride in his Irish roots. His greatest joy was his family and he took great interest in their achievements. Bob faced life's challenges with a "can do" attitude. He had a deep and abiding faith in God and was active in the church. He was known to arrive at services early to visit and loved to sing the old hymns. Bob's faith didn't stay at church he lived it. "Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand" Thanks to the Paramedics, doctors & nurses of St. Boniface Hospital and a special thank you to Lydia as well as Carol Fletcher. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice and please consider signing your donor card. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave W, Winnipeg, MB at 1:30pm, Rev. Carol Fletcher officiating. A service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Virden United Church, Virden, MB at 2:00pm, Joyce Marsh officiating. Interment to follow at Virden Cemetery. www.seasonsfunerals.ca
