HENRIETTA (HETTY) HEDGECOCK (nee BAILEY) On October 13, 2013 mum passed away at home surrounded by her family. Mum was born on December 18, 1921 in Liverpool, England and immigrated to Canada in 1960. Family was first and foremost to mum. She raised eight children and, as she would tell everyone, she also raised two of her grandsons (Sean and Kyle) while their parents worked. If any of her children asked for help mum was there for them. If you needed baking done, tending to sick grandchildren, or just someone to talk to, mum was there. Some of the things mum enjoyed doing for the family was knitting sweaters and crocheting blankets. Mum was one of those rare people who did not pass judgement on anyone and would offer assistance to those who needed it. She loved to purchase toys at Christmas for those in need. In her youth she worked labour intensive jobs and it is our belief this is what made her so strong to the end. After immigrating to Canada she became a full time homemaker until her husband Clifford died. The next six years were spent working in a personal care home to help provide for her two youngest children. In 1982 she started looking after her grandsons and did so for 18 years. When mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's she asked but one thing, she wanted to live at home to the end. This was only possible due to the care and devotion of her daughter Charmaine who lived with mum. While mum's other children helped with her care, it was Charmaine who became mum's voice and loving companion. The family would like to thank all the Homecare staff (especially the primary caregivers Grace and Carol). We would also like to thank the Palliative Care Staff who ensured mum could pass were she wanted. Mum was predeceased by her husband William Clifford Hedgecock (1976) and her Grandson Kyle Patrick Green (2012). She is survived by her children Lillian Hamilton, Charmaine Hedgecock, Leslie Green (Dave), Manfred Bailey (Lucy), Cecelia LeBlanc (Bernie), Ian Hedgecock, Clifford Hedgecock (Alvina), and Barry Hedgecock. Also carrying on mum's legacy are 13 grandchildren (Clifford (Holly), Rob, Kristin, Sean, Kassandra, Mathieu, Sabrina, Jesse, Malina, Connor, Quinn, Nathalie, and Jeremy), and 3 great-grandchildren (Liam, Celeste, and Abbey). A celebration of life for family and close friends for our mother (aka Nanny) will take place at the Sunova Centre, 48 Holland Road, West St. Paul from 2:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013. • I knew of Hetty through her daughter, a dear friend of mine. I know Hetty was a very thoughtful, kind, loving, gentle lady that was loved and cherished by her devoted children. As a Mother, I cannot think of any gifts greater in life, than selfless love and devotion from family. Hetty's life was truly blessed with those gifts. I hope in time your sadness is replaced with all the many memories of love shared with your beloved Mother. My sincere condolences to the Hedgecock family. - Posted by: Mary Penman (Friend of Daughter Cec) on: Oct 19, 2013
