GEORGE WALTER (BUTCH) WOOD It is with deep sadness Neil and Randy announce the passing of our Father George Walter (Butch) Wood, at the Beausejour Hospital on September 12, 2013, after complications from a surgery caused by diabetes. George was born June 24, 1942 and raised in the North End of Winnipeg. His love of his family, the outdoors and fishing lasted throughout his life becoming a Master Angler in almost every species found in Canada. He was so very generous to everyone and loved to laugh. We miss you and will cherish our memories of you forever. Donations can be made to the Beausejour Hospital. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on October, 26, at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Springfield, Manitoba. www.seasonsfunerals.ca

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Uncle Butch was always a hearty laugher who I never saw in a bad mood, his laugh lit up the room. I enjoyed MANY childhood visits to their home to play with Neil and Randy and all their cool toys. They always had a huge yard and many animals (including a monkey - haven't you always wanted a monkey)! They always served up a fantastic supper and I never wanted to go home..it was such a happy place to me. Uncle Butch will be missed by a lot of folks..me included. - Posted by: Henry Klassen (Nephew) on: Oct 23, 2013

  • I remember "Butch" when he visited our Aunt Jennie in Kelwood many, many years ago. I was probably quite an annoyance but totally impressed that I had a cousin who owned a car and lived in Winnipeg. My brother Doug Wood told me that Butch had stopped by his home at Kelwood awhile back - Doug wasn't at home but he did call Butch back. (Butch had left a note.) I will forward this obituary on to our Aunt Grace in Vancouver. She will be 97 on May 13th. I am sorry for your loss and wish we would have stayed in touch. - Posted by: Glennys McRae (Wood) (Cousin (Half) Daughter of late Harold Wood) on: Oct 21, 2013

  • I remember a smile that went on forever. Lots of laughing and a good heart. Rest in peace Great Uncle Butch. - Posted by: Mandy Paproski (Great Niece) on: Oct 19, 2013
