W. BRUCE MCAULEY
Born: Sep 25, 1943
Date of Passing: Oct 18, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryW. BRUCE MCAULEY Sadly, after a hard fought battle, Bruce passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on October 18, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Sylvia and his brother Brian. Left to cherish his memory are Linda, his devoted wife of 45 years and his loving children and grandchildren: Teri, Julian, Kyleigh and Katelin Moffatt and Brett, Tanya, Olivia, Ben and Brad McAuley. He will also be missed by his sisters-in-law, Lora McAuley and Elaine (Morry) Stearns; brothers-in-law, John (Bev) Johnson and Ron (Penny) Johnson; his nieces and nephews and their families; and also by his many lifelong friends. Bruce was born on September 25, 1943 and lived his life in River Heights. He worked at the Manitoba Highways Department from the time he was a teenager until he retired. He was active in sports and was a longtime member and Past President of the Thistle Curling Club. He was also an avid collector of Breweriana and a member of the CCBA. Bruce was happiest spending time with family at the cottage, which he rebuilt after a forest fire in 1980, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. This was a love he passed on to his kids and grandkids and also what he missed most when his health challenges became more difficult in recent years. Our family would like to thank all of the health care providers, but especially Dr. Rush and his dedicated team, who worked to make sure that Bruce had as many good years as possible. We also need to thank a family who in 1998, in their own time of sorrow, cared enough to donate their loved one's kidney and gave us 15 more years with ours. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bruce's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce's memory to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or The Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. Bruce was not a great basketball player; none of us were! But he was a welcome member of a ragtag group of university profs who called themselves ID -- The Interdisciplinarians. Fun times many years ago. A sad day for all ID-ers. - Posted by: Gene Walz (Team member) on: Nov 07, 2013

We have known Bruce and Linda since Brett and Tanya started dating in 1988. He always welcomed us on our visits to Winnipeg and the cabin at the lake. Jack and Bruce had great times hunting for antiques and talking about Bruce's collections. We will remember the good times. Our sympathy to Linda and family in the loss of a fine husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.
