My mom loved Amelia and visited with her every time we went to Gimli. My family enjoyed meeting her and visiting too. She always had a smile on her face and a loving heart she shared with everyone. - Posted by: Kristine Maclean Ennis (Her cousin Gudrun's daughter) on: Nov 21, 2013

I will always remember Amma for all her cooking, baking, singing and laughing. There used to be guests coming over every night for a cup of coffee and a great laugh - thats how Amma ruled! My thoughts are with her Family, love and hugs to all of you. - Posted by: Jona Eyjolfsdottir (special host granddaughter) on: Nov 04, 2013

I am sorry to learn of the passing of Amelia Thordarson. She was a fine woman and a good neighbour. My condolences to all of her immediate and extended families. I am especially thinking of her daughter Dorothy, who attended my father's memorial service in Winnipeg last year. I appreciated that very much. - Posted by: Peter Fyne (former Gimli neighbour) on: Oct 29, 2013

Sad to hear of your dear Mom's passing; she truly was a kind-hearted woman. My thoughts are with you Dorothy during this most difficult time. It meant alot to me to see you at my Dad's funeral last year and know that I'm thinking of you. Love Gina - Posted by: Gina Garrett (Fijn) (former Gimli neighbour) on: Oct 28, 2013

I was so fortunate in 1960 when I met Amelia and her sisters--they were all very special to me--she was a great person to work with. What a lucky family to have been blessed with Amelia for a Mom, sister and Amma--and the memories she has left for you all to share - Posted by: Kathie Kushnir (friend) on: Oct 27, 2013

Amelia was the first grown-up I ever called by her first name. I learned many a life lesson around her kitchen table on 3rd avenue: how to stomach strong black coffee, how to make it, and someone in the kitchen even showed me how to peel a potato. Somehow at 13, it was just fine being around Amelia's place instead of my own home. She fed us, gave us a warm place to gather, and had the biggest set of lungs when calling "Tommy!" I'll miss her Christmas card this year. My love and prayers to your family Amelia. We were all blessed to be a part of your welcoming circle. - Posted by: Kim Trynacity (Friend) on: Oct 26, 2013

My heart is breaking for all of you. Amelia was such a beautiful woman and touched so many lives. I have so many wonderful memories of your Mom & Dad - sitting at your kitchen table drinking coffee & eating Icelandic Doughnuts - in the living room - learning how to do Amelia & Bobby's version of the "Mexican Hat Dance". Skipping school to watch the "Edge of Night". Singing along to all of Amelia's old Records. All of these will be in my "Treasure Chest of Memories". My Love & Hugs to all of you - I am there with you in spirit. XOX - Posted by: Connie Champagne and Family (Family Friend) on: Oct 26, 2013
