BARBARA LOUISE MCKEEN (nee CALDER) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barb McKeen (nee Calder) on Thursday, October 24, 2013. Barb will be deeply missed by her daughter Samantha (Adam); father Vernon; siblings David, Darlene (Ross), Brenda (Greg), Doug; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her mother Mable and infant sister Jacqueline. Throughout her life, Barb loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed being outdoors with Mother Nature. She especially loved cooking and hosting dinner parties with her family and friends. She enjoyed collecting antique furniture and was known for always having her home beautifully decorated. Many summers were spent golfing and she cherished the annual family golf tournament. Happily Barb was able to fulfill her dream of travelling and exploring Costa Rica with her 60 Dragon Club Girls. Barb was proud of her Aboriginal heritage and her beliefs were very strong. Friends knew they could always count on her for help and support. She was a free spirit and was accepting of everyone. Barb enjoyed the simple life and her treasures were her family and friends. Free from pain, her body and soul back to the earth. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Salvation Army in her memory. A private celebration of her life to be held at a later date. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
