WILLIAM (BILL) ARTHUR DAVIES January 5, 1959 - October 29, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic and sudden passing of our much loved Father, Son, Brother, and Uncle. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Muriel, son Ben, sister Lesley, nephew Jim, and brother-in-law Gary, along with several close, personal friends. He was a very caring and unselfish person who dedicated his life to raising his son as a single father after the passing of his late wife Sherry in the early 1980s. To his son, he was not only a great father, but also an excellent coach, teacher, mentor, and most importantly, a best friend. Before his son left for college, they did everything together; spending countless hours playing sports, video games, collecting sports cards, going fishing, playing late-night basketball, watching movies, and sometimes just hanging out and talking about life and enjoying each others' company. He was the kind of parent who enthusiastically got involved in everything his son did, and made it clear on many occasions that his ultimate purpose in life was to do everything he could to make his son into something special one day. Sadly, he was plagued with many medical ailments, and was declared permanently disabled at only 39 years old, but that did not stop him from loving and caring for those who were close to him. After the passing of his father Arthur in the early 2000s, he became extremely close with his mother, and they shared a special bond that was like no other. Living only blocks away from each other in the same neighbourhood made it easy for them to visit, and he would often call her almost every day just to chat about life and tell her how much he loved her. He was a very proud man who never gave up and fought hard for everything he believed in right to the very end. He had a heart of gold and will be sadly missed. Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium at 1800 Day Street will be hosting a celebration of Bill's life on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either the Canadian Mental Health Association or Canadian Cancer Society.
