STEPHANIE (WUSATY) MAKICHUK September 25, 1925 - October 29, 2013 With peace and dignity, surrounded by her family, Stephanie left us to be with our dad (George), our sister (Gail) and our brother (Gary). Our mom spent the last six months fighting multiple medical issues and in the end was too weary to fight any longer. We (Debbie, Nanci, Douglas and Helen) had a wonderful 88th birthday celebration with mom on September 25 a memory that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Steph was so happy that she was able to celebrate her 88th with her family and enjoyed the laughter, the joking and her cake. Left to cherish mom's memory is her children Debbie, Nanci Dagg (Chuck) and Douglas (Christine); her grandchildren Graham Dagg, Jordan Makichuk, Tracey Lund (Ernie) and Melanie Antcliff; great-grandchildren Brandon and Kyla. Our auntie Helen (Yakimiw) was more than mom's younger sister she was Mom's best friend for her entire life. Mom's passing is hardest on our most beloved aunt. We don't know what mom would have done without auntie Helen in her life! Also left to mourn is her brother Julian Wusaty (Verna), sister-in-law Phyllis Wusaty (Mom was predeceased by her brother Borden), many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Mom was born to Michael and Lena Wusaty and grew up at the Farm in Poplar Park, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg at an early age and met our dad. They were married June 14, 1947, and lived on Monreith Street in the North End their entire lives. Mom continued to live in our family home after dad's passing on October 25, 1996. Mom worked at many places before and after all of us were born, but working at Eaton's in the Receiving department was the job she loved most. She met many wonderful friends there. Christmas Eve was our family's biggest celebration. And, as the family grew, so did the noise factor. Mom used to say "Now I know how Baba felt with all the kids running around." Mom loved that night and that tradition will carry on. Mom loved to laugh, loved having company and truly loved living on Monreith where she still has many friends. Stephanie will be genuinely missed by her family and friends. Our family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for taking such good care of mom for the past two months. Viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 with a Funeral Service following at 11:00 a.m. at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens 4477 Main St. following the Reception in Mosaic's Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
