Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDENNIS WHELPLEY SHACKLEFORD Peacefully, on Monday, November 4, 2013, Dennis Shackleford, the beloved husband of Georgina, of Selkirk, MB, passed away, at the age of 88. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons Kent (Jill), Dale (Brenda) and Alan (Loida); six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dennis served two and one half years in the Canadian Navy. After his service, he married his sweetheart Georgina Loney. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 42 in Selkirk, MB. Dennis and Georgie settled in Selkirk in 1953, and retired in 1983 after 38 years with Manitoba Telephone System. He spent 10 years as a cub leader and was very involved in his son's activities and sports. He was also active on the church board and was chair of Selkirk United Church. Georgie and Dennis enjoyed many years at their cabin at Hillside Beach. A special thanks to the nurses and staff of MI ward at Selkirk General Hospital. At Dennis' request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Selkirk United Church, 222 McLean Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Vision Canada or online at www.worldvision.ca or the charity of your choice.
