JAMES (JIMMY) HOLYK January 5, 1955 November 2, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden unexpected death of our dear Jimmy at the age of 58 years. He was predeceased by his parents John and Leona Holyk. He will be dearly missed by his brother Ken (Karen) Holyk, sisters Carol Holyk (Randy), Karen (Keith) Otto and his several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jimmy will always be remembered for his kind heart and ease of making friends. He always liked to talk with anyone he came in contact with. His favorite past times were making people laugh and smile and was a master at doing cartoon voices from the good old days. A special thank you to Uncle and Auntie Stan and Ann Holyk and all the support staff from the WHRA. When Jimmy said thank you, he truly meant it from the bottom of his heart. Good bye to our brother and friend. A private family gathering to celebrate Jimmy's life is still to be confirmed. Cremation has taken place. If friends so desire in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society Suite 100-4 Fort St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1C4 in Jimmy's memory. • I'm so sorry to hear that Jimmy has passed away. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of times spent together at the Holyk farm. Walking to your house down that old road from Aunty Annie's always seemed to take forever back then. We swam in the big ditch, ate in the summer kitchen, dodged the swooping barn swallows and shouldn't have tried to ride those small pigs. Years later I enjoyed meeting Jimmy in Lac du Bonnet. He would call out Hi Gracie from across the road and we would talk together catching up on news about family. My memories will continue to bring a smile to my face. Peace and love to your family. - Posted by: Grace Honke (Cousin) on: Nov 11, 2013

  • I got to know Jimmy when he worked at the Department of Highways with my ex husband. He would always say Hi and ask how I was doing. He was a gentle soul and will be missed by all who knew him. Carol and Karen, my condolences go out to you and your families, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. - Posted by: mary Schwolman (friend ) on: Nov 09, 2013
