BORGE PEDERSEN Peacefully, on Friday, November 8, 2013, surrounded by family, we lost our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend. Borge was born near Aalborg, Denmark on November 4, 1926. He served in the Second World War with the Danish army and later immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his wife Else (Hansen). Their first child Susan (Ken) Larson was born in June of that year. Followed by Jan (Shelley), Dennis (Rebecca) and Lisa (Robert) Collen. He made countless friends but his main joy was his children, 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His many camping trips with family, especially at Blue Lake, was a memory he shared often. Borge worked his whole life with his hands, farmer, construction worker and carpenter. He also worked for many years for the River East School Division. It was hard to drive around Winnipeg without him talking about a building we passed that he helped build or he would spot one of the many Purple Martin houses he built in his spare time. A date for a celebration of Borge's life will be announced at a later date. Else and the entire family would like to thank the staff at Selkirk and Grace Hospitals for their care during his and our time of need. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Borge and Else are my godparents and were a big part of my young life. Borge loved his wife, kids, grandkids and great-grandkids like no one I have ever known. His woodwork was beautiful and very precise - still have the hope chest he made me many years ago and the Purple Martin birdhouse still stands in my backyard. His trips to Denmark with his kids and grandkids brought a lot of joy to him and Else as did his many adventurous camping trips. Borge's family has many years of wonderful memories to cherish, keep them close to your heart. Love you and will miss you lots. RIP my dear godfather. - Posted by: Kimi Wirtz (goddaughter) on: Nov 15, 2013

  • I've known Susan and her family for approx. 41 years. I have many wonderful memories of her dad Borge. Trips to Blue Lake, family times and just good times at their home. Borge loved his family so much and was a real family man. He was kind, loving and had a great sense of humor. He treated everyone with kindness and welcomed everyone into his home. He was a great craftsman as I had the honor of owning some of his beautiful work. His number one priority was his family and he was very proud of his children. He may have been taken from his loved ones...but the memories his loved ones carry in their hearts will always remain...and his spirit will continue on through his children. Heaven now has an angel to keep a watchful eye over his loved ones. R.I.P Borge. - Posted by: Kim Surrette (Friend of daughter Susan.) on: Nov 12, 2013
