CONSTANCE HELEN PETTITT (KLAPP) Mom passed away quietly on November 12, 2013. Until a short time before her passing, mom had enjoyed very good health. She was predeceased by her husband Eric on February 13, 2006. She leaves to mourn her daughter Sandra, son Terry (Barb), grandchildren Kara, Chad, Neil and Scott. She also leaves her sister-in-law Ellie Klapp and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was predeceased by Margaret (Bill Butterfield), Jessie (Charles Flecher), Mina (Roy Kerr), George (Elenor), Millie (Lance King), Allan (Carol), Lorne, Jack, Nora (Doug Bell), and son-in-law Rick Thompson. Mom was born on May 23, 1918 and grew up on the family farm in the McCreary area. She was the fourth oldest of a family of six girls and four boys born to Constance and Frederick Klapp. Growing up during the Great Depression, she learned the virtues of hard work, thriftiness and common sense and these virtues stayed with her all of her life. To the end, Mom believed in "pick yourself up, dust yourself off, put a smile on your face and make the best of your situation". Mom moved to Neepawa in 1938 where she had been able to secure work at the Neepawa Hospital. Sometime after this, while attending church she met Dad. The church would remain one of the focal points of their lives together. In October of 1942 they were married and spent 63 very happy years together. When Dad received his army release in June of 1946, they were living in Chilliwack, BC. Mom wanted to be close to her family so the family story is it was her decision to move back to Neepawa. Mom was a Brownie and Girl Guide Leader, Sunday School Teacher, member of the United Church Women and the Order of the Eastern Star. With the passing of dad, it was family, friends and community services that allowed her to live in her condo until May 2012; at which time she moved into Country Meadows Personal Care Home. After dad's passing, Mom was very appreciative and always commented on the phone calls, visits and care that she received. She was a very generous person and would always be willing to help out in any way she could. Mom will be remembered for her love of getting together with family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in White's Funeral Chapel, Neepawa, Manitoba. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Neepawa District Palliative Care Service, Box 1240, Neepawa, MB R0J 1H0. We will miss you mom.
