EDOUARD GAUTHIER On Thursday, November 28, 2013, Joseph Edouard Roland Gauthier, beloved husband of Marie-Anna Gauthier, peacefully passed away at Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre), at the age of 92. Edouard was predeceased by his father, Adrian Gauthier, mother Corinne Lévêque, two sisters, Cécile and Madeleine, two brothers, Jean and Roland. Edouard is survived by his wife, Marie-Anna (nee Ritchot), brother Gérard in BC and sister Lucille Blanchette, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ed and Mianne married in 1942 and lived in St. Boniface before moving to BC where they lived for approximately 30 years. Edouard served with the RCAF in Fort Nelson, BC from 1942 to 1945. After 35 years of service with CN Rail, he retired in 1983. They then moved back home to Winnipeg to spend their quality years with family and friends. Bowling and bingo were favourite things for Ed to do. He enjoyed competing and socializing, and could be seen every Saturday in the front row of Précieux-Sang Church. Ed was very supportive of those in need; he donated two wheelchairs for children to Tabs for Wheelchairs, supported families in India including the building of a school, he was also recognized for his contributions to CBM, Christian Blind Mission. His generosity also enabled the Lifewater Liberia Team and Lifewater Canada to drill a compound borehole for precious water for a community. Edouard was an active member of the Royal Canadian (Norwood Branch) Legion for 26 years. He proudly showed his awards and certificates to his family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Actionmarguerite, Tessa, Maria, May, Paulette, Myrna and many many others who made his last years so comfortable. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3 at the Précieux-Sang Roman Catholic Church, 200 Kenny Street. A private interment will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
