KARL RAGNAR GOTHE LARSSON Peacefully passed on November 26, 2013 at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 86. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years and best friend, Gunvor, as well as their son Ben, his wife Evelyn and grandchildren Matthew and Daniel, all residing in Victoria, B.C. Karl was born in Molltorp, Sweden in 1927, the younger brother of Holger and Gosta. Upon completion of his education and fulfillment of his conscription requirement in the Swedish Army, he graduated as a journeyman electrician from the Technical Institute. After several years of working in Jonkoping, Karl's adventurous spirit took him and his young family to Canada in 1958, where they settled in River Heights in Winnipeg. He continued his career as an electrician and earned the respect of colleagues, clients and inspectors alike. Larsson Electric Inc. became his major achievement and operated for several decades. At the time of his retirement, Karl had been Chief Electrician at the Manitoba Sugar Company for 13 years. Karl was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church since 1961 and an active member of Lodge Strindberg #259 since 1963. Gunvor and Karl were also the founders, in 1975, of the Scandinavian Folk Dancers. Karl loved the outdoors, especially Lake of the Woods, where he and Gunvor spent much time on their houseboat with good friends. They also enjoyed travelling to warmer climates, and often visited relatives and friends in Sweden, Chicago and North Dakota. Skiing was a passion for Karl, and Sunshine Village in Banff his favourite destination. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Victoria Hospital for making Karl's final days very comfortable. In accordance with Karl's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 2, 2013 at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 600 Cambridge Street (at Corydon). A luncheon reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make a donation to a charity of their choice. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
