CLARENCE KARANDIUK Clarence Karandiuk passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 30, 2013, 12:45 a.m., at the Selkirk and District General Hospital at 89 years of age. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce Loreen (nee Cook) on December 7, 2004. He is survived by his beloved family of four children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: daughter Christine Atkins and her family Sandra, Dennis (Annaliese) (and their sons Beckam and Cayman), Gary (daughter Avarie); son Paul and Gaye Karandiuk and family Candace (Derek) and Terence (Emily); son Gregory and Tobi Karandiuk; and daughter Gloria Norquay and her family Christopher (Avery), Kelsey, and Jeremy (Amber). Clarence was a University Air Force pilot and was proud that he was called to Reserve for Second World War Regiment No J44866. He worked as a carpenter by trade and was mechanically inclined and able to fix most things easily. He spent many hours in his workshop creating and building. He was an active community member, he belonged to the Anglican Parish of Christ Church. He had a sharp intellect and wit, loved to read daily and was often found whistling or singing songs and teaching his grandchildren all the songs he taught his children. He was a wise teacher and helper in raising his grandchildren and was always interested in their welfare and achievements. He kept current in news and sports especially baseball as he had enjoyed playing it himself. He liked gardening and sharing his bounty with others. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember him for his generosity. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Many thanks to the staff of the Health Sciences Centre and Selkirk and District General Hospital and Dr. B. Lindenschmidt for keeping Clarence comfortable and peaceful during his last days with us. He believed we are all Energy and interconnected, and as Energy does not dissipate but only changes form he was comforted and resolved that he had lived a full and rich life and was ready to join his wife Joyce, mother of his children. Cremation has taken place and the family will gather at a later date for a celebration of his life. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
