Tom was born May 14, 1936 in Transcona and lived and worked there all his life. For 40 years, he worked primarily as a Sheet Metal Worker in the CNR Transcona Shops until his retirement in 1993. Tom married his love, Ann Hrymak, on October 9, 1965. Tom's life centered around his family, neighbours and friends made through work, sports, and at Nutimik Lake. He enjoyed taking road trips with his family, reading, and meeting his friends at Kildonan Place and at CN events. Throughout his life, Tom loved sports. He enjoyed playing baseball, football, curling, golf and coached his children's soccer and hockey. However, his greatest enjoyment throughout his later years was cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Predeceased by his parents Antonia and Francesco Cantafio; sisters Gilda Porco and Mattea Altomare; brother George A. in infancy and brother-in-law Carmine Altomare. Tom leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Ann, of 48 years; his three sons Blair (Suzanne), Dale (Gretchen) and Brent (Sonia); his six grandchildren Daniel, Emma, Noah, Dustin, Carter and Jack; sister Giovanna Eliass; brothers-in-law Gabriele Porco, Danny Hrymak (Gloria) and Peter Hrymak; nephews, nieces and cousins in Canada, the United States and Italy. We would like to thank Dr. Nadine Fontigny and Tom's other wonderful doctors who provided excellent care throughout the years. As well, thanks to staff at Concordia Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital. Special thanks to our family and friends for their love and support. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Wheeler Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior. In memory of Tom's spirit, spend more time with your family and friends. Every time when I would see uncle Mike he would say give me a big hug and it would be a massive hug, I'm going to miss those hugs so dearly!!! To Auntie Anne and Bliar, Dale and Brent my heart goes out to you as I have felt such loss not so very long ago with Jace... but I know deep down that Jace is giving him hugs and also calling him uncle Vito while they play on the heaven's greens with a few games of golf!!! Love you all!! - Posted by: Alanna Chwartacki (Niece) on: Dec 10, 2013

Anne words could not express my deepest sympathy for you and your family. Our times together on the curling ice and socially over the years as well as working with Tom will always be held in great esteem. Having lost a spouse I can only say that over time, life will seem to get better, but the good memories will always remain. - Posted by: BoydKramble (Friend) on: Dec 09, 2013
