NELLIE MYSLAWCHUK (nee MOLLISH) April 10, 1911 !December 6, 2013 Peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2013, Nellie passed away with her son Harold by her side at Tudor House in Selkirk, Manitoba at the age of 102. She was predeceased by her husband Steve in 1991. Nellie will forever and lovingly be missed by her devoted son Harold and special friend David Boulton, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Nellie was born and raised in Poplar Park - Libau, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg in her teens and for 14 years worked as a domestic worker for the Mann family both in Winnipeg and Matlock. In 1939, she moved back to Poplar Park - Libau, to marry Steve, start a family and embrace the life on the farm. She was a lifelong member of the Poplar Park Ukrainian Orthodox church and actively involved in the activities of the church and community. She worked for over 40 years at the community hall preparing for special events, bingos, dinners, dances and weddings. She loved a good polka. These were very enjoyable and fulfilling times for her. The early years were filled with much hard work looking after the farm animals, helping in the fields, taking care of the garden, cooking, preserving, baking, knitting and crocheting. She truly loved her home and all the people who came to stay or visit. She played a good game of cards, too. Nellie also enjoyed her short trips in and around Manitoba and visiting family in Kenora and Windsor, Ontario. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all those whose lives she touched with her beautiful smile, her thoughtfulness and her gentle, kind, welcoming spirit. She was especially devoted to all her pet cats and dogs. Thank you to the wonderful nursing and support staff at the Pine Falls Hospital for their care and friendship during her eight month stay and also to the staff at Tudor House in Selkirk for their care and compassion shown to Nellie these past seven months. She was so fortunate to have such good care from all of the caregivers. Funeral service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, Manitoba on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Father Harkavyj officiating. Pallbearers will be David Boulton, Donald Boulton, Randy Kostenuk, Art LaFleche, Bill Sokolowski and Todd Staranchuk. Interment will be in the Ukrainian Orthodox cemetery at Poplar Park - Libau, Manitoba. "She will always be in our hearts." Vichnaya Pam'yat Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
