Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Just saw this now so my apologies to the family for not having responded before. I was introduced to Sandy by my daughters 20 years ago in Fleet Park when they were 5 and 2 years old. At that time they were very pleased to be collecting pens, and an occasional quarter :). They were always comfortable and delighted to see Sandy in the park, neighbourhood, or at the mall. For years Sandy's greeting to me was always, "Still praying for you John", with a nod. His greeting always made me smile and my response was standard, "Still needing them". If I was with someone Sandy's greeting especially in later years at the Mall would make them laugh and if asked I always responded that he just knows things. I hope he is still praying and / or looking down on us all. Rest in peace. - Posted by: john kiernan (neigbour) on: Jan 27, 2015

  • It was in 2011 when my daughter age 4 met Sandy at grant park mall. He tried giving her a quarter, but she wouldn't take it. When he asked me if he could give it to her & I told her it was ok to take it from "Mr. Sandy" she accepted it with a smile on her face. I then told Sandy & his aide & my daughter that "Mr. Sandy" had given me a quarter when I was a little girl too, so this quarter became special to my daughter. To this day she has it put away in a safe place. Rest in peace Sandy you will be missed by many. - Posted by: Theresa () on: Dec 23, 2013

  • I remember Sandy from more than 20 years ago. He always had an interesting story to relay to us at TD Bank and always had a pen for us too. I would meet Sandy at Grant Park Mall with my children & he always had a pen for them. They remember him fondly as we saw him often. He was always kind & friendly to everyone. God Bless you Sandy for making our day every time we met you. - Posted by: Karen Heinrichs (Banker) on: Dec 21, 2013
