GIUSEPPE PELLETTIERI July 2, 1929 - December 10, 2013 Peacefully, Joe passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. He leaves to cherish his memory his caring and loving wife of 60 years, Maria (nee Perretta), his adoring children, Marietta (Ali Vaziri), Sal (Mara, nee Nepon), grandchildren, Marcello, Matteo, Meir, Simcha, and Yael, his siblings, Donato (Antonia), Michele, Rocco (Lucia), Vincenzo (Donata), Francesco (Rosaria) Pellettieri, Rosina (Archangelo Taddei), siblings-in-law, Pietro (Rina), Rocco (Rosa), Donato (Maria) Perretta, and Erminia Canosa, and his many beloved nieces, nephews and treasured friends. Joe was born on July 2, 1929 in Castelmezzano (Potenza) Italy. He moved to Canada in 1956. Joe worked as an orderly at the Manitoba Cancer Foundation for over 35 years. Through his work and in all other aspects of his life, his kind, gentle nature and wisdom served as a source of comfort and guidance to many. Joe especially looked forward to meeting up with his friends at Notre Dame Park and, in later years, at Fyfe Park for some rounds of bocce and banter. His unassuming sense of humour is legendary and at the root of many a good story. Joe was also appreciated for his artful wine making and talented "fisarmonica" playing. Words are not big enough vessels to contain the love and simple magnificence Joe shared with everyone he was ever around, every day and in every way -- he filled their wine glass with respect, empathy, and love. He also had a great interest and insight for property development and business. Joe could fix anything from a broken door to a broken heart. He took tremendous pride in all his projects, all of which were for the betterment of his family. Many wonderful memories were made at the cottage that he built in Matlock, Manitoba and where he and his wife tended to a small patch of heaven on earth. The family especially wishes to express its gratitude to the medical and nursing staff of the dialysis unit of the HSC for their good care of Joe over the last 4 1/2 years and for extending his life. Memorial donations may be made to The Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, Kidney Foundation of Canada (Manitoba branch), or charity of choice. Condolences will be received between 10:00 and 10:45 a.m. Eulogy will be delivered at 10:45 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano Celebrant. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave. For online condolences, or to light a memorial candle please log onto www.mosaicfunerals.ca Riposa in pace per sempre, caro papa. 1839 Inkster Blvd. 1006 Nairn Ave. (204) 275-5555

  • Our condolences to our dear Zia Maria and cousins Marietta, Sal and families. Uncle Joe was a great guy. He was a man of few words but great wisdom. Whether at the cottage or at one of our families' homes, Uncle Joe was always there with his fisarmonica. When he started playing, the dancing, singing and fun began. We will never forget the great memories. We'll miss you Uncle Joe. Rest in peace caro Zio. - Posted by: Toni and Katrina-Nicole Perretta (Niece and Great-Niece/British Columbia) on: Dec 17, 2013

  • I grew up with Marietta and her family. Joe was always a kind, warm and sharing man. I remember sharing an anniversary supper with the family and after Joe put on his favorite hits record and he and his wife danced in the living room. How romantic they were with each other. My blessed wishes for the entire family. - Posted by: Luana Dallmann (Neighbor/Friend with Marietta) on: Dec 14, 2013
