CAROL ANN CARLSON (KASTNER)
Born: Apr 09, 1945
Date of Passing: Dec 12, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROL ANN CARLSON (KASTNER) April 9, 1945 - December 12, 2013 Peacefully after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer, Carol passed away with her husband and daughters, and good friend Anne at her side. Carol leaves her husband Eric, daughters Shannon, Jody and Hali (Jeff) and granddaughters Falynn and Annika, as well as many numerous friends and cousins who shall miss her terribly. Carol was born in Winnipeg and moved to Minaki, Ontario with her family when she was nine. She lived most of her youth in Minaki until she met the love of her life Eric Carlson. Eric and Carol settled back in Winnipeg where they raised their family. Carol was a hairdresser in Winnipeg. She was passionate about gardening and spent many hours of enjoyment outside in her back yard. She loved cooking and entertaining. She was a talented quilter. She was a wonderful mother and friend. Carol's strength during this battle never faltered. She was courageous and was admired by all who she touched. We would like to thank all my mom's friends for their love and support of our mother through this time. We could not have done it without you. We would like to thank everyone at CancerCare and the Palliative Care Program for the gentle and always respectful care they showed her and us. It is Carol's wish that no memorial service be held but a celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol's memory to Ovarian Cancer Canada or a charity of your choice. "You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on Your shoulders; You raise me up.to more than I can be." Carol will be fondly remembered by Gracie and Lily Button (her "little darlings") as Nana Lady. "We love you! With broken hearts filled with sadness we say goodbye to the woman who was and will always be remembered as the centre of our family." (204) 782-3541

We have great memories of Carol visiting us in Japan with sister Kris. It was wonderful to be able to show her around Tokyo and introduce her to some new sights and sounds, and tastes. Hearing about her adventures on the subways with Kris was great. We were so fortunate to know her and will miss her very much. While I have had the pleasure of meeting Carol on several occasions over the last 16 years, most of what I know about her as a beloved wife and mother has come from the expressions of adoration shared by my friend Eric. There are few that loved their wife and family with more devotion. Our family's thoughts and prayers are for you that remain behind to deal with this great loss. - Posted by: Kevin James (Friend) on: Dec 14, 2013

GREAT MEMORIES OF THE COUSIN LUNCHES, FAMILY REUNIONS AND, IN RECENT YEARS, HER TIRELESS ENERGY RAISING FUNDS FOR OVARIAN CANCER HOSTING HUGE GARAGE SALES AND PROVIDING LUNCH FOR FRIENDS AND OF COURSE, THE WALKING TEAM KNOWN AS CAROL'S CORNER. I WAS ALWAYS APPRECIATIVE OF HER NO NONSENSE, NO BULL APPROACH TO LIFE. SHE SIMPLY TOLD IT AS IT WAS. I WILL MISS CAROL AS WILL SO MANY OTHERS. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, Carol was a great lady. I remember hanging out in the backyard of the house around the pool. I was always welcome and enjoyed my time feeling like part of the Carlson Family, this was so important for a teenager, Carol was the "cool" mom. I also enjoyed the many trips out to Minaki that I always felt welcome to tag along to. I wish Eric, Shannon, Jody, and my friend Hali, all the best and I'm sure your mom's quest for life has been passed to you. - Posted by: Paula Deneweth-Ingrilli (family friend) on: Dec 14, 2013

I will always remember our late afternoon conversations in the back yard on the colorful adirondack chairs surrounded by the beauty of Carol's garden. She is probably plucking and grooming in her afterlife making it a beautiful place as well. The tall grass in my front yard will always be a reminder of my dear friend. I will miss you Carol. - Posted by: Jocelyn Tetreault (friend and neighbor) on: Dec 14, 2013
