MARY GEORGINA MATILE (WAKEFIELD) Mary passed away at Misericordia Place on December 16, 2013. She would have been 92 on December 22. Mary was born in London, England where she lived with her parents and an older brother and sister. The Second World War changed Mary's life. It gave her an added family when, as a student she was evacuated out of London to a caring family in East Cocker, Somerset. After graduation she worked in the British Army from 1942-1945 and met her future husband Louis. On September 29, 1945 they were married in London. After the war Mary joined Louis in Winnipeg. It would be 40 years before she went back to England to see her family. Mary raised a family, helped build their first home, planted vegetable and flower gardens, and helped Louis and his father in their watchmaking business. Mary enjoyed her family, gardening, sewing, knitting, reading, and renovating. Later she would add computer skills to keep in touch and play Mahjong. Mary will be missed by her daughter, Georgina Gray (Dale), son Gaywood (Shirley), granddaughter Jennifer Falloon (Chris), grandson Kevin (Mandy), and great- grandchildren Lily, Keira, Thomas, and Charlie. A memorial service will be held in her honour at Misericordia Place, 44 Furby Street on Monday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. Thanks to the staff at Misericordia for all their respect and care for Mary and her family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory, can be made to Misericordia Foundation or other charity of your choice.
