LINDEN RUTH ALBERTSON (nee MOORE) On Wednesday, January 1, 2014 with her husband and son by her side, Linden closed her eyes and went to sleep ending two years of pain and suffering caused by the ugliness that is Cancer. Linden leaves her loving husband Carl and her "Little Boy" Kevin (Sheila) to mourn and remember her, also her grandsons, Braden and Axel, who Grandma loved beyond words. Also left to mourn is her loving sister Andrea (Carl); nephews Chris (Theresa) and their children Annika and Sydney, Mark (Nancy) and their children Hannah and Dylan, Devon and children Anders and Logan and their mother Leanne, Dayna (Nelson) and their son Carson, also, brothers-in-law Harry (Barb), Roger (Betty), Randy and sisters-in-law Barbara (Morris), Debbie (Louis) and Shelley, plus numerous nephews, nieces and cousins, and "Auntie" Ethel in England. Linden was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Dorothy Moore, her faithful soft coated wheaten terrier "Chester", father and mother-in-law Willard and June Albertson and sister-in-law Heather. Linden was born in the R.M. of Daly near Rivers, Manitoba on February 21, 1951. Linden's father was in the R.A.F and R.C.A.F. and she was fortunate to be posted not only to Winnipeg but various bases in France and Germany. The last posting brought Linden to Gimli, Manitoba where she met her "Prince Charming" Carl and they were married on November 30, 1968. Carl and Linden lived in Winnipeg for a short time before moving permanently to Gimli. Linden's working career included time at Betel in Gimli, Oakley Optometry, Elections Canada, both Federal and Provincial and for the last thirty years until her retirement in 2012 as Secretary of the Gimli Lutheran Church. Linden was also a member of Legion 182 in Gimli and served on the executive as Secretary for about 10 years. Linden also took on the role of Respite worker and enjoyed the company of many especially Danny Jo, Alec, Austin and Harry. Linden loved to travel and her trips took her to Europe, Mexico and Florida with her time in Portugal being her favourite, especially after she lost the passports. The drive to Florida was always eagerly anticipated and when we pulled into our resort her smile was priceless. Linden's hobbies included curling and spending countless hours on her computer playing Farmtown, Scrabble, etc. especially with her cousin Betty. Because of this, Linden was able to make friends worldwide, which she enjoyed immensely. Linden's coffee "mates" Dodo and Marie will miss her greatly as well as her friend Marg and her oldest special best friend Vickie as will her one time neighbour Val and the many nights they spent in discussions on solving the world's problems. Also a special thanks to Dodo and Marie who spent countless hours ensuring Linden got to her Chemo and supported her through this rough time, and Marie also for the hours spent at the hospital being with her "adopted sister". The family would like to thank each of you for being such a special part of Linden's too short life. Special thanks to the staff at Cancer Care HSC and especially Dr. Maksymiuk. Thanks to Dr. R.C. Patel and all the staff who looked after Linden at the Gimli Community Health Center and extra special thanks to Linden's Chemo Nurse Julie. As per Linden's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Linden's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gimli Humane Society or a charity of your choice. How much did we Love You? "A Bushel and a Peck" Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

  • Although we did not stay in touch, I've thought of you guys often throughout the years and was kept "in the loop" by news from my Mother. I am very sorry to hear of Linden's passing as she was a beautiful person and I enjoyed knowing her and enjoyed when we used to "hang out" together many years ago! My deepest condolences to Carl & Kevin and the rest of the family. May you find some peace in your memories. - Posted by: CHARLENE MARKS (nee Dubchak) (Old Friend) on: Jan 05, 2014

  • I have been a friend of Linden's since high school and although our lives have travelled in different directions and I moved to BC, we have remained friends. My once a year visit to Gimli, meant a re-union at Linden and Carl's with all of us from BC, Diane and Heather and Jim to reminisce about the good ole days and always have a lot of laughs. Linden would always remember events with her own take and with her great humor always made us howl. We always stayed in touch and compared grandsons. She loved telling little stories about how funny they were and how much she enjoyed and adored them. I may not be close to Gimli now but will forever miss Linden in my heart. Comfort and peace to Carl and Kevin and family. Love Teri - Posted by: Teri Harrop (Gottfried) (friend) on: Jan 04, 2014
