WALTER HRYCYNA Peacefully, early in the morning of January 2, 2014, at the age of 75, Walter Hrycyna, passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital. Walter was predeceased by his wife, Marian, in June of 2007. Walter is survived by his eldest son, Todd and his wife Susan, with grandchildren Krystyn and Darryn and also by his youngest son, Tim and his wife Carla with grandchildren Cameron and Maureen. Walter was born in the north end of Winnipeg in November of 1938 to parents Michael and Pearl Hrycyna. He began his career with the Winnipeg Hydro in 1957 and proudly served them for 31 years, retiring in 1988. Walter enjoyed many fishing trips with his cousin and closest friend Rozin Iwanicki. He also enjoyed hunting, boating, and in his retirement, woodworking. He was very proud of his woodworking creations and has shared many of them with friends and relatives. In keeping with his wishes a cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street, on Saturday, January 18 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice in the memory of Walter Hrycyna would be greatly appreciated. We will always remember Walter as the friendly *Go to* neighbour who was always generous with his time, his stories and his constant offerings to try different select choice of meats grilling on his BBQ. He was also the person to call on for help. I remember locking myself out of the house with my new born howling inside and it was Walter who would come to the rescue.
