RYAN CHERNETSKY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother and uncle, Ryan, on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Ryan is survived by his brother Randy (Audrey) Chernetsky, sister Charlotte (Horst) Welk, nieces Jenna Chernetsky, Vanessa (Mike) Ellis, Sara Welk (Steve), nephew Curtis Welk and great-niece Caladyn. Ryan was predeceased by his father Harvey (1989) and his mother Marie (2011). Ryan was born June 17, 1955 in Beausejour, MB, living on the farm in Dencross and then moving with the family to East Selkirk in 1962. Growing up in East Selkirk, Ryan made many lifelong friends. Ryan had a very strong work ethic and worked at a variety of jobs until his health declined in 2010. Ryan moved to Selkirk in 2011. Ryan cherished his times with family and friends. He loved his nieces and nephew as if they were his own children. He always looked forward to family get-togethers, even if at times they were a little too loud for him. Ryan especially appreciated the support and friendship of his dear cousin Brad. Ryan also enjoyed his outings to the casino, playing cards, pool and meeting with his coffee buddies to "shoot the breeze". All those who knew Ryan soon discovered he had a heart of gold, a quirky sense of humour, and lived the best he could with the challenges he faced. Although Ryan's time with us was short, he was able to leave an imprint on all the lives he touched. His mother and father were always in his thoughts and it gives us comfort to know they are wrapping their arms around him as they guide him on this next journey. Rest in peace our dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend. You were one of a kind. We will miss your presence but your spirit will live on with each one of us. We would like to thank all family, friends and "sweethearts" who enriched Ryan's life. Thanks to Darwin and all his staff for your kindness, to Dr. Demsas, the nursing staff of Selkirk General Hospital and Selkirk CancerCare for your compassion. Most importantly, to all those who shared little acts of kindness, to make Ryan's days brighter, thank you for caring. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014, 10:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. His weary hours and days of pain, His troubled nights are past; And in our aching hearts we know He has found sweet rest at last.
