MARION HLATKEY (nee DZIADEK) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom and grandma, Marion Hlatkey, on January 12, 2014. Marion will be missed by her husband of 48 years, Jerry; her two daughters, Kim (Darrell) and Kristin (Everett); her only grandson Brandan (her little buddy) and her granddogs. She will also be missed by her brothers and sisters, Terrance (Olga), Norman (Linda), Wayne (Fran), Dennis (Joyce), Randy (Sheri) and Debbie, as well as by numerous nieces and nephew, and many close friends. Marion was predeceased by her father Martin; mother Katherine; brother Ernie; sister Louise; nephew Darryl, and her very dear friend Sharon. Marion was the oldest daughter of nine siblings and was born July 9, 1944 in Poplarfield, MB. She moved to Winnipeg to start her life. Marion met Jerry in 1964 and they were married in June of 1966. They were blessed with two daughters Kimberly on January 13, 1971 and Kristen on April 27, 1975. Marion was also known for her passion of cows, she collected all sorts of cows and they were placed inside and outside of her home. There was never a corner empty in her house that didn't have a cow there. She was known as the cow lady. Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer two years ago January. She fought very hard and was a very strong and tough lady through it all. She was a fighter and always had hope that she was going to get better someday. When you came to visit our mom she would like to listen to your stories that you told her and what you have been up to. Then she would tell you a story and give you her two cents. You never left without a smile on your face and a piece of advice that she would give you. She was a loving and caring person. We would like to thank Angela for all her help and time with mom in her last day. We would like to thank Dr. Speer, Dr. Demsas and all the nurses that took care of mom. We would like to thank all of our family and friends that were with us in our last moments with our mom. In lieu of flowers please donate to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, Manitoba. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
